Tommy’s figure immediately stood out with his 6’2″ frame accompanied by his long wingspan, and I instantly thought that Tommy was built to have a bright future as a Defensive End. Tommy had a fantastic stance that was low to the ground and balanced, allowing him to get off the ball quickly and under control. Tommy’s ability to spring off the ball will is something I am sure will continually be crafted into something that makes him unstoppable as the year’s progress. Tommy did show some room for improvement with his hand placement and moves when engaging offensive linemen; however, I am sure this will evolve throughout Tommy’s career. There were moments when Tommy’s heart and passion shined bright as Tommy had lost a battle, but he kept stepping up to give it his all, and that non-quit spirit is something that will carry him to a fantastic career. Overall, Tommy showed to be a spectacular athlete who is bound for a fruitful career on the Dline ahead.
Jaxon is an elite defensive lineman with an astute ability of shedding offensive linemen once he is engaged out of his stance. Jaxon’s wide wingspan allows him to get out of his stance and engage an offensive lineman’s chest plate to establish control of his opponents; from there, Jaxon is spectacular at finding the ball and reacting to the play immediately. Jaxon attacked all assets of the camp with a focus on enhancing his skillset, and that was spectacular to see such a young man with great emphasis on his craft. There is no doubt that Jaxon has a bright future and will be an irreplicable asset to his team.
Highlights
Jamal Booker
Jamal Booker
Jamal showed to have a motor that would not waiver as he was steadily pounding his feet through the drills and competitions. This young man showed to have the versatility to play inside on the line or outside at the defensive end position. Jamal’s non-quit mindset saw him win some tough battles in one-on-one competitions. Along with this mindset, Jamal was excellent at getting out of his stance quickly and powerfully. Jamal is a great athlete who could end up playing anywhere on the line with his versatility and being a huge problem for opposing offenses.
Chase Goodrich
Chase Goodrich
My initial thoughts on Chase were, “My goodness, this young man is built,” and that I couldn’t wait to see him compete. Chase was not at camp to fool around and was there strictly on business, and he made this clear by the intense amount of focus that was displayed when running through Indy drills and one-on-one competitions. Chase gave 110% effort with anything I saw him do on the field, always finishing through the line and keeping his feet pounding through everything. I was stunned at how Chase attacked everything he was faced with at camp, and I know that this kind of laser focus on his craft will bode well for him in his future. Chase’s strength was no match for his competition, as he was frequently getting the best of anyone whom he was going against. However, this strength has him on such a good path that I noticed some room for improvement with his hand moves, which I am sure will come along as the years go on. Overall, Chase is a young athlete who will undoubtedly be a force to reckon with as he gets to high school.
