Casanovas is a two-time state champion and proven winner and punched his ticket into his third consecutive section title game for the Mustangs. He got it done on the ground in the D5 semi-finals on Saturday afternoon and took over the game with his legs rushing for 116 yards and 3 touchdowns and passed for over 120 yards while showing full command of the offense and doing a good job controlling the game from start to finish. Casanovas will be a key piece in this Mustang offensive attack playing against one of the top teams in the entire north coast section in Ferndale in a clash of two of the top small school powers in the state of California.

Casanovas is one of the top available signal callers across Northern California and has been flying under the radar to this point and is looking to be a big time steal for a college program. He is a two-time state champion and has the Mustangs sitting at 4-0 heading into their bye week. Once again, he took over in Humboldt county, accounting for 238 yards and 6 touchdowns, while also doing a nice job with his legs on the ground as well on designed runs and when buying time.

The back to back state champion is one of the best available 2026 signal callers across Northern California, and has only lost 3 games in his entire high school career heading into his Senior season. A true dual-threat passer, he has elite escapability and running abilities while also showing he can deliver on-schedule throws, buy time with his legs and keeps his eyes downfield while not afraid to take a shot to deliver the ball. On the run, he is explosive through the first level, shows good patience behind his blocks and is tough to take down in the open field with contact balance and sneaky third level speed. His commitment and recruitment is one to watch as we move through the season as he is looking to be a big time steal for the next level.

Casanovas is coming off back to back state titles, most recently at the 4-AA level and is undefeated in post season play as a starter. Being the signal caller for the Mustangs that ended the ’24 season as the top small school team in California (Cal-Hi Sports), he is a true dual-threat passer that navigates the pocket well while keeping his eyes downfield and can fit the ball into tight windows with throw anticipation and velocity over the top. He is a very efficient passer that takes what is given underneath, but also can stretch the field on in-breaking and out-breaking throws. On the ground, he was a 967 yard rusher and accounted for 47 total touchdowns and has a strong initial burst, chunks yardage with long strides and shows contact balance and wiggle in tight windows with good patience and vision through the first level. Over the weekend, he had one of the top showings in a very impressive quarterback group, and is poised for another huge year in 2025 both through the air and on the ground.

Casanovas has now lead St. Vincent de Paul to back to back state title wins at the 6-AA level and now the 4-AA level and they finish off the year as the number one small school team in the state per Cal-Hi sports. The Junior passer was lights out through out the post season for the Mustangs and had complete control over the state title game in Long Beach. He passed for 106 yards and 2 scores, while adding another 162 yards and 1 score on the ground. Casanovas will be one the top returning signal callers across northern California heading into next season, and the Mustangs should be in the mix once again come late November with a host of key players returning and a loaded 2026 class.
