He’s a well put together young man for a defensive back. He has excellent feet and hips to run with and mirror receivers. He’s excellent in short space coverage and he’s strong in press man. I really like him as a slot corner at the next level due to his specific skill set. One thing about Springfield skill players is you never have to worry about them being surprised by skill talent across from them at the college level, because they see it at literally every practice. I think Javyn is one who could really break out this summer and I’m excited to see it.
2024 QB Brevin Bourquin Brevin Bourquin 6'3" | 190 lbs | QB Marysville | 2024 State OH (Marysville) 6’2 190- Borquin had a nice day. He was one of the QB’s chosen to compete in the 2-minute competition at the end of the showcase. Borquin has tight throwing mechanics and a live arm that he uses to create strong velocity on the ball. He has good feet and is a very mobile QB who can scramble for yards if needed. He’s one of the rare quarterbacks with legit 4.5 speed. I’m looking forward to seeing him have a big senior season for the Monarchs.
2024 WR Zach Thomas Zach Thomas 6'1" | 170 lbs | WR Dublin Jerome | 2024 State OH (Dublin Jerome) 6’1 170- Thomas had defensive backs on skates all afternoon. He’s a really good route runner who understands how to set up breaks and keep defensive backs guessing. He has good speed and is explosive in and out of his breaks and when he beat his man, he caught the ball. He was easily one of the best receivers at the showcase. and had a very impressive showing. I can’t wait to see what he’s able to do in his senior season on a talented team at Jerome.
2026 QB Austin Buescher Austin Buescher 6'4" | 165 lbs | QB West Jefferson | 2026 State OH (West Jefferson) 6’4 160- Buescher is a long slender freshman QB. I thought he was one of the best Freshman QB’s on the day. For the lack of bulk he does a great job with his throwing mechanics generating whip to create velocity. Velocity wise I thought he was right there with a lot of the upperclassmen. I was generally pretty accurate when it came to putting the ball on the receivers when they were throwing routes. Austin’s comfort with slinging the ball should come as no surprise as the Rough Riders run a spread offense. He’s also the son of Head Coach Shawn Buescher, so you know he’s getting coached hard outside of practice as well. I’m excited to see Austin continue to develop physically and as a quarterback.
2025 WR Jamil Miller Jamil Miller 6'3" | 185 lbs | WR Springfield | 2025 State OH (Springfield) 6’2 180- Miller is a Junior to be who will be transferring from Springfield Catholic to Springfield High. Miller will fit right into the bevy of skill talent that the Wildcats deploy on a yearly basis. Jamil has great length for the receiver position that he uses to his advantage when the ball is in the air. For the length he possesses he has a nice that he should be able to continue to add weight and strength. In his route running, he’s very sudden and does a really good job of getting in and out of his breaks and turning defensive backs around. If Miller can continue to add weight and strength, while maintaining the explosiveness
