Early in his career, Braxton was a key contributor on varsity at the safety position. As his career has gone on we have seen him also make plays at WR along with his DB play. Starting on the offensive side of the ball. I really like the physicality that Braxton plays with. At the catch we see strong hands to hang on through traffic and also be able to pull it away from DBs trying to rip it out. After the catch the senior is a tough runner who forces defenses to gang tackle him. He is also a smooth route runner who can create and keep separation from DBs. On defense we see Braxton in the box or on the edge pretty often. He is a nice chess piece that you can use to lock down the edge, vs the QB, or play out in the flats zone where he can also pressure the QB if they roll to his side and he doesn’t have a defender to guard. The safety has range to play out in space and also the quickness to slice through the front seven to make tackles without getting blocked by offensive linemen. The versatile senior is one of the top available players. Check out the tape.

Braxton has been near the top of the DB rankings in this Class ever since he debuted as an underclassman. The 6’1″ 185 lbs safety has so much tape of him roaming deep downfield and making big time plays on the ball. Braxton has developed impressive awareness and plays with confidence, trusting what he sees and attacking. The closing speed is next level too as he makes a lot of last second plays that he didn’t look like he would be in time to make. Braxton is used as a single high safety at times because of those traits. The 2025 safety also has solid ball skills and is great with the ball in his hands after the INT. I believe the safety is looking for his first offer. Teams need to get eyes on him, today.

Stats: 16 Tackles, 1 INT, 1 Pick SixrnIt is quick highlights, but the standout junior safety is off to a good start. He continues to prove that he is a three level safety. One that can be counted on to step down into the box and stuff the run. He also can be reliable upon in coverage to both be the last line of defense and deliver hard hits to receivers, or be opportunistic and make INTs. Continue to keep an eye on the rising junior. He is one of the state’s top tacklers, so far.

Coaches, get this 6’1″ 180 lbs sophomore DB on your radar early. He is already proving to be a very versatile safety prospect. Braxton lines up deep, in the slot, and over TEs while they are lined up inline. While lined up deep, Murphy has highlights showing off next level range and awareness/intelligence to read the QB and routes developing. When he drops down and plays man coverage, Braxton has loose hips to be able to smoothly turn and run with receivers, and he has the speed to be able to run with them and recover if separation is opened up. I’m looking for a breakout year this fall from the soon to be junior.

Our newest addition to the DB group in the Class of 2025 has the talent to be the cream of the crop by his senior year. Braxton is already a long 6’1″ 180 lbs. His combination of quick feet and loose hips allow him to react as quickly as his eyes read the QB. Murphy’s reactive athleticism allow shim to put himself in position to make a ton of plays. He is able to react to routes, and the eyes of the QB based on the coverage called. Braxton does a good job with his timing at the catch point to be able to get his hands on the ball, and give himself a chance to create a turnover. Murphy also has very good acceleration when he turns to run with receivers. He can instantly go stride for stride with them out of his backpedal. Don’t be surprised to see him climb to #1 at his position. Murphy is a high ceiling athlete.
