I play basketball which helps with hand-eye coordination and track which helps with endurance and agility. I have run varsity track since 8th grade for sprints and long jump. I actually broke the school record for long jump a couple weeks ago. It was a 42 year old record. In football, I think there are so many skill sets you need and each sport in the off season really adds to that. I think one of my biggest strengths in football is I am fast, have good hands, and can read the defense pretty well to find the right holes and routes I need to run. I do whatever is asked of me and am willing to play any role to help my team improve and win. I have also been the punter for the past three years and I actually really like it. Its another part of the team I can contribute to and I enjoy it.”
The 2016 season for Waconia and Hoehn was a step in the right direction.
“Our team really improved last year as we went from a 2-7 record to 7-2,” Hoehn explained to Northstar Football. “We had been working so hard on improving our plays and finding the right place for everyone it really came together last year. My coach at the time, Sam Baker, believed in me from the start. He pulled me up in 9th grade and taught me so much by working side by side with the older players. I was lucky to have that opportunity right away as a freshman. The biggest highlight last year was homecoming as we were down 13-0 with only four minutes left. I scored the winning 2 touchdowns at the end of the game to win back the “Little Brown Jug” from Chaska. It was nice to get that win for the seniors on their last Homecoming game. And, our fans are so awesome and we had a great time celebrating with them on the field after.”
Hoehn knows that it's time to impress this off-season at college camps.
“This off-season, I have a lot of summer camps coming up and I am excited to show the schools I am interested in what I am capable of,” Hoehn told Northstar Football. “I am planning on spending a lot of time in the weight room and also on the track keeping my endurance up during the summer. I plan on putting on more muscle and weight but keeping my speed and agility. I know it will be a fine balance and I'm excited to see what my body can do. We have a new coach starting this summer and I can't wait to start working with him. Coach Shea has a lot of experience and I can't wait to learn from him and get to work.”
