Which fast-rising juniors earned recent offers?
Let’s take a look…
Elijah Mcdowell – South Gwinnett
An impressive under the radar receiver in Gwinnett County, Mcdowell has big-time size and a promising frame at 6-foot-3 175-pounds. A good route-runner for a longer, possession receiver, Mcdowell shows good body control with reliable hands down the field. He can create separation and becomes an easy target to throw too when he’s open. He’s a down-field threat and knows how to high-point the football, allowing him to make a tough catch over defenders. He looks the part, and while he didn’t exactly light up the stat sheet last year as a junior, it’s easy to see why D1 offers are starting to come his way. The smooth wideout has recently earned an offer from the in-state Georgia Southern Eagles and could see more head his way soon. He can be real threat next season in the passing game with a chance to easily fly by his 19 catches and 269 yards and three touchdowns from last year.
Jayden “Duke” Scott – RB – Stockbridge
One of the top running backs in the Atlanta area with easy D1 talent, Scott is an explosive, shifty back who runs with balance and shows quick feet. Scott only played in 5 games last year but ran effectively each time, rushing for 542 yards and 10 touchdowns, averaging an impressive 8.5 yards per carry. His vision and the ability to shed tackles make it easy to see his potential as a tough, tackle-breaking back at the next level. He’s not easy to trip up, and of you don’t wrap him up with proper technique, Scott is going to make defenders look silly. He can change directions in a hurry, shows good burst, and has a lot of qualities that make him an easy D1-caliber back. He really impressed in just five games as a junior, and he earned an new offer recently from Coastal Carolina. He’s without a doubt one of the top 2024 running backs to keep an eye on this upcoming season in the Atlanta are and could see more offers come his way over time.
Marqavious ”Quavo” Saboor – ATH – Kell
A big-time safety prospect with a natural feel for the game in the secondary, Saboor brings a receiver-like skillset to the Kell secondary as he knows to get up and play the football in the air. He closes well in coverage, and he knows how to come down into the box and help defend the run. He consistently flashed last year as a junior and it’s easy to see why his recruitment took off in January, adding offers from Indiana, Georgia Southern, Cincinnati, App State, among others. He’s a rangy defender and has a true nose for the football. He has a long, athletic frame at 6-foot-0 170-pounds, and he was consistently one of the better pure athletes on the field at any given time. He’s excellent with the ball in his hands and has an opportunity to play more offense as a senior in 2023. He’s one of the top defensive backs in the area and added a new offer recently from Kentucky. With the Cats extending an offer, look for more schools to start reaching out down the road.
