We were fortunate enough to see both of Minnesota’s #1 and #2 defensive back prospects in the class of 2028. Cambridge-Isanti’s Knox Andrus was an obvious top performer and eye-catcher out of the talented DB group that descended on Dinkytown. He tested well, was plenty bendy, quick, and explosive during drill work, and was nimble, loose, and noticeably fast during DB indy work. Andrus also was productive during 1v1s, showing off a sticky skillset that was breaking up passes left and right, especially on routes to the first and second level of the field. His ability to play with patience, knowing his elite quickness/explosiveness can get him to the catch point quickly, as he reads and recognizes routes, led to an impressive amount of pass break ups, some of which got the Gopher DBs in attendance especially hyped. Aggressive and sticky in coverage, I think Andrus did a good job of showcasing his man-coverage ability on Sunday night in Dinkytown.

is fresh off a tremendous showing at this spring’s PRZMN Showcase. Measuring in at 5’10, 183 lbs. with a 71″ wing and 9.25″ hands, Andrus clocked an eye-popping 4.61 laser-verified 40 as a sophomore, with a 4.32 shuttle and 9’7″ broad (we’ve measured him over 10′ in the broad multiple times), according to Universal Speed’s testing data and equipment. A prolific 7v7 player with a ton of varsity experience under his belt, Andrus is popping off in exciting fashion this outdoor track & field season, putting together a very impressive combination of PRs in the 100M and the long jump, in which he’s gone 11.30 and 20’4″, respectively. Andrus has also added an 23.21 200M PR and 33′ shot put in the 2025 outdoor track & field season as a freshman. Talk about green verified athletic data!
As a sophomore, Andrus totaled 0 TDs allowed in 2025 as a CB, 33 carries for 496 yards and 6 TDs at a 15 YPC clip, and 21 tackles, 3 TFLs, 5 PBUs, 1 INT, and 1 FF. On tape, he displays explosive, game-breaking speed as a tailback and ball carrier. If he gets to the edge and out to the sideline it’s game over for a defense, and he is also twitchy in the open field and put some defenders on skates in 2025. Andrus is more than able to finish splash plays for six once he hits the open field and finds daylight and also flashes impressive ball-tracking ability and ball skills from the RB spot. Plus, he’s a ertical threat out of the backfield with 50/50 ability to boot.
Defensively, to show off his speed, Andrus has some eye-catching defensive reps chasing down loose ball carriers far downfield and in impressive fashion, and he owns noticeable range and closing speed from his CB spot in run support. The 180 lber. is a physical and effective 1v1 tackler out on the edge as well. In coverage, Andrus displays good footwork, loose hips, and impressive short-area quickness and body control as he works to mirror and stay in-phase with WRs throughout their route’s development, and he’s very comfortable under the deep ball and shows impressive ball skills, sometimes running the route for the receiver. Plus, he flies out of his breaks with pace and physicality to and at the catch point. Keep an eye out for this young and developing Bluejacket on the 2026 Summer Camp Circuit!

out of Cambridge-Isanti who is another that you could argue was in the running for DB MVP a couple Saturdays ago. Knox tied for third in the 40-yard dash with a 4.61 in the second session, top in the pro agility at 4.32 and the most eye-catching number in testing, was his broad jump which was second in the session with a 9’7. The biggest skillset that needs to be pointed out from Knox in the live eval, is not just how coachable is he is, but how he helps out the guys he was going up against. There were underclassmen that I witnessed Knox taking under his wing and surely from what I saw bettered their skillsets, more than you commonly see at an event like ours. As a two-way athlete, you can’t not love watching Knox’s football IQ at work as he was one of the most well-rounded defensive backs in all faucets with his skillsets. The 5’10 183 pounder has much more range with that size than you would expect as an athlete that was extremely fluid from start to finish. Surely a 2028 prospect I would expect college coaches to want to jump on early with all of the athletic traits he has at his disposal.

has been posting D1-worthy athletic times since he was going into his freshman year with the Bluejackets, developing on pace and at an elite clip. With another excellent in-person visibility point coming last weekend in Plymouth, Andrus popped off a blazing 4.61 laser-verified 40, 4.32 shuttle, 9’7 broad (we’ve seen him go over 10′ before) at 5’10, 183 lbs. with a 71″ wing and 9.25 hands. Hands down one of the most athletic players in the state, regardless of class, Andrus had an excellent year as a RB with the 5A Bluejackets, but DB suits him well at the next level too, where his outstanding technique, as well as obvious deep speed, were too overwhelming of a combination for WRs to overcome. Loose hips, could break on the ball in a blink, and was physical and coordinated at the catch point. Instinctive and a seasoned 7v7 veteran, Andrus was able to successfully anticipate WRs routes a majority of the time during competition, and the athleticism also allowed him to play riskier, as the make-up speed and body control kept him in good position throughout a route. High-level offers are inevitable!

is running with Next Level Athletes and really dominating at the cornerback position, a feat that can’t be underestimated due to the offensive-minded strategies of 7v7 competition. Andrus was very much in contention for the best player of the entire tri-team exhibition tourney, ending the day with some incredibly-impressive plays on the football from his CB spot. A wild one-handed INT where the sophomore floated through the air and aggressively stuck the pigskin into the palm really embodied his day of work and overall skillset well, and he also made a great PBU on the ball wherein the CB floated through the air to showcase some serious vertical ability on the perimeter of the defense. This kid single-handedly had the opposition shook. Don’t throw to this Bluejacket’s side of the field!

, one of Cambridge-Isanti’s few bright spots on a winless team last season. Andrus played very well in man coverage, opening his hips well, keeping tight distance between his WRs on go-balls, and he shows great ball skills, which allowed him to nab a couple interceptions as a freshman. Andrus also played well against the run, showing great hand-fighting technique to get off his WR’s blocks and get around in front of the RB to stop the play. Andrus’ athleticism is promising, having posted a 4.7 40 yard time and a 225 lb max bench, showcasing impressive physical development with 3 more years to get stronger and faster. Andrus is a legitimate threat that has quickly become the face for Cambridge-Isanti’s defense.

had a solid season in the varsity ranks in his introduction to high school football. According to MNFootballHub, Andrus posted 20 tackles, 2 TFLs, and a PBU, and his tape showed a couple of INTs as well. The CB displays good ball skills and is especially impressive in contested catch situations, where he has good bounce and times his jumps out well. He displays the speed to stay with receivers going vertical, loose hips, and is sticky once he gets in phase and uses good positioning to compete at the catch point, particularly on 50/50 balls. Plus, Andrus can run the alley and tackle out on the perimeter in run defense. The contested catch ability, strength in coverage, and varsity experience have me excited about the young Bluejacket’s future in the 5A ranks. Stay tuned!
