Hamby had yet another strong performance, and he was running the football much better than he did against IKE.
His power shined through this game. Time after time, Brady was able to lower his shoulder and lay out defenders on his way to a solid gain. I still don’t think his RB play will translate to college, but right now, he’s a very hard-nosed north-south runner who you can rely on for all four quarters. Defensively, Brady made several between-the-tackle and off-tackle stops, with a few solid sideline-to-sideline plays. Utica wasn’t able to do anything on the ground, and Brady was a massive reason why.

#179 –> #95
Brady finally gets his well-deserved jump. My bad.
For a while, I overlooked Brady. Just based on his prior tape, I thought he was around #150 -#200. After seeing him in person, I know why Ferris State recruited him.
Brady is a pure football player. He rarely left the field, and played a MAJOR role in the offense and defense. Offensively, he’s an OK running back. A power runner, works for extra yards, but still pretty raw.
Defensively, Brady is relentless. Even after playing 3 1/2 quarters on both sides of the ball, Brady was still sprinting downhill to stop the outside run and violently getting past blocks to attempt to stop the inside run. Gritty player, extremely well-conditioned, and someone who I think will eventually succeed for Ferris State.

I finally got to watch Brady play, and now I know the hype surrounding him. Linebacker is a position that, in my opinion, is very difficult to scout behind a computer screen. In person, I’m able to get a much better understanding of a linebacker’s competence.
I’ve (in person) scouted nearly every linebacker currently ahead of Brady in the rankings, and I can tell you that Brady will definitely be moving up in the next rankings update. Time and again, Brady attacked the football with great pursuit angles, quick reaction time, and an overall mentality + play speed that I rarely see in linebackers. Against inside runs, Brady is oftentimes able to react quicker than the linemen trying to block him, and I must say, IKE barely ran the ball between the tackles. Against outside runs / screens, Brady sprinted to the football and laid the wood a few times.
Brady also played quite a bit of offense, mostly at RB. He’s a power runner who’s consistently able to earn a few extra yards. I honestly don’t love his vision or contact balance, but his play at RB doesn’t affect my opinion of him whatsoever.
Great player. Great leader. Ferris State develops LBs extremely well and I hope to see him play on Saturdays in a few years!

Brady is another player who’s really come on during his Junior season.rnDakota (and the MAC Red in general) is known for physical, swarming defensive play, and Brady embodies that. As an off-ball linebacker Brady flies to the football and isn’t afraid to deliver a big hit. If you’re running the ball up the middle against Dakota, you better have a heck of a lineman to get to try and block Brady. In just one season, he’s gone from the Watch List to one of the best off-ball linebackers in the entire state.
