Last Friday, the Lawton Wolverines took on Midwest City on the Bombers’ senior night/ opening night of their new stadium. They looked good early, scoring a field goal on their first drive and then picking off [player_tooltip player_id="51855" first="DeAngelo" last="Irvin Jr"] on MWC’s first play on offense, but this game ended up getting away from them as they would go on to lose 34-9 on a night where they gave up a few too many big plays. Nonetheless, Lawton is still 3-1 and had some players perform at a high level on Friday night. Here are a few of them. [player_tooltip player_id="55923" first="Donovan" last="Dorsey"] - Quarterback - Class of 2021 Friday’s game against Midwest City may be one that Donovan may not want to remember after throwing a pair of picks and getting blown out, but the Senior signal-caller for Lawton had some nice throws in this game. Dorsey shouldn’t be too down on himself considering how often the Bombers were in the backfield before he could even go through his progressions. Talent was definitely not the problem for Dorsey in this game, look for him to bounce back the next couple of weeks when he doesn’t have to deal with MWC’s defense. [player_tooltip player_id="55924" first="Caelab" last="Fuller"] - Wide Receiver/ Defensive Back - Class of 2021 [player_tooltip player_id="55924" first="Caelab" last="Fuller"] had some great plays in this matchup against the Bombers despite not getting a lot of balls thrown his way. In the second quarter, Fuller had a big-time catch on a long pass from Donovan that helped the Wolverines jump into MWC territory for what would eventually be their only touchdown of the night. Fuller is 6’0" tall, but he often plays much bigger than that on deep passes. [player_tooltip player_id="55925" first="Jayden" last="Sincere Howard"] - Linebacker/ Defensive Back - Class of 2022 As we highlighted in our scouting report of Midwest City, [player_tooltip player_id="51855" first="DeAngelo" last="Irvin Jr"] had 3 picks in this game, one of those came from Sincere Howard who had a fairly productive night despite Midwest City having a big game against his defense. Howard is a versatile playmaker for this Wolverine defense playing safety and linebacker and has a great frame at 6’2" to make plays like the ones he made on Friday night. [player_tooltip player_id="38616" first="Christian" last="Houston"] - Running Back - Class of 2021 On an offense that struggled for a large part of this game, [player_tooltip player_id="38616" first="Christian" last="Houston"] was a bright spot for the Wolverines. Houston ran with great vision and burst all night long and scored Lawton’s only touchdown of the game in the second quarter. Houston is often underrated because he is just under that 5’10" threshold for running backs coming in at 5’9". However, what he may lack in size, [player_tooltip player_id="38616" first="Christian" last="Houston"] sure makes up with his vision and ability to make tacklers miss in the open field.
