Expert Analysis
Corey Bailey | Prep Redzone Scout
Piner has been a top receiver in this class for the past two years but is still yet to gain traction in the recruiting trail. This season Piner had at least 1 receiving touchdown in every game, ending the season with 12 total. He also had 5 games with 100+ yards, including his biggest game with 183 yards on 7 receptions. Piner has made making big plays a normal thing for him and more than doubled productivity since his sophomore season. He’s still trending up and I don’t expect him to slow down any time soon, this next season could be huge for DJ.

DJ is a kid who got on my radar and saw as a sophomore, then he went out and had a huge junior campaign finishing with over 1,00yds on 43 catches with 12 TDs. He’s got a lot of burst and twitch and shows quick feet. Once he accelerates and gets going, it’s hard to stop him. A deep ball threat, he is always behind the defense. DJ is a versatile receiver, can line up in the slot or out wide and take a short pass and turn it into a big gain. A main thing I like about him is how he sees the ball. Tracks it well with the good body placement, always getting himself between the ball and defender, allowing his momentum to keep him going and not be tackled for bigger plays. DJ will put on shows at camps this summer and will be poised for another big year his senior season.
