quite a bit in the last nine months after watching him steal the show at our camp in January. He ran away with the MVP award for the defensive backs and was one of the more dominant DBs we’ve had at one of our camps when he was in one on one competition. But performing like that in camps and 7v7 tournaments is one thing, doing it again with the pads on under the Friday night lights is another. So we’ve wanted to see Dean continue that momentum this fall as one of the best cornerbacks in the state. Not only has he done that but he’s also been a dominant player in some of the toughest games of the season. Dean does a great job in man to man coverage and has an uncanny way of always being in the right place at the right time. He’s once again one of the top DBs in the ranking update.

We’ve mentioned the defensive side of the ball quite a bit in this preview and one of the players that we think will help them improve is 2024

at the cornerback position. We didn’t know much about Dean prior to the offseason but we quickly got acquainted with what he brings to the football field. Dean had a decent junior season but things really took off for him since the start of January. The Moore standout came to our prospect camp in January and was hands down the top cornerback in attendance. He ran away with that MVP award and added to his collection at different camps this offseason. We think that he has the chance to really improve his stock as a prospect this season by backing up what he did in a camp setting when the pads come on this fall.

is near the top of the list of 2024 prospects that have had the best offseasons. At the end of his junior season last year, we didn’t know much about Dean. Before he came to our January prospect camp, he told us he was one of the better defensive backs in the class. He talked the talk and then he walked the walk at our camp back in January. Dean ran away with our MVP award for the defensive back group and he continued to have a really strong offseason while perfecting his abilities on the football field. Dean came away with the MVP award for more camps and was consistently training to improve his coverage skills. We got a chance to watch Dean again with the pads on during the spring team camp tour and he was incredibly impressive in their mini game against Mustang. Dean is a defensive back that we think is going to blow up in a big way this fall. He has taken his game to a new level in our minds.

has had an outstanding offseason and has certainly made the rounds on the camp circuit. First off, he was the DB MVP at our camp back in January. Dean would also earn MVP honors at another camp down in Texas in late February. The confidence is definitely there in Dean’s game and he’s been a student of the game this offseason, consistently putting in work on his game. Based on his film last fall, Dean is a hard hitter that was left on an island a lot last season but he handled business. In 1 on 1 situations, Dean absolutely flourished and seemed to shine brightest. It doesn’t appear that Dean was challenged very much as quarterbacks looked to avoid throwing his way. The combination of size and speed is something that will attract college coaches. Moving forward, there isn’t a whole lot to critique when it comes to Dean’s film. And Dean has also impressed us every time we’ve seen him in person this offseason. But we want to check him out in person when the pads come on to see how much of what we’ve seen in the last few months translates when the pads and helmets come on.

at the Nienhuis Park football complex was last month when Dean earned MVP honors for the defensive back position at our camp. So when Dean returns this weekend with OBoyz, he should feel right at home and get right back into locking down opposing wide receivers. Dean is a cornerback on the rise in the state’s 2024 class and he’s definitely not lacking confidence in his game. And that confidence is a trait that cornerbacks need to have to be successful.

We get messages and comments all the time from prospects that are very confident in their abilities and think that they are among the best in Oklahoma. One of those prospects here recently was Moore standout cornerback

. He instantly got our respect by talking the talk and then walking the walk. Dean told us he was the best cornerback in Oklahoma and then came to our camp earlier this month and walked away with the MVP award for the defensive back group. Dean is a very intriguing prospect moving forward because he’s doing all the things you need to do to get exposure and get seen by colleges. And he’s consistently working on improving his craft and there’s definitely a hunger and a drive to Dean’s game to reach that top spot. As far as his work on the field, Dean is a long but smooth corner that does a great job staying with any wide receiver he’s matched up with.

lit up the drills at the combine and is on the list for the second time as the top defensive back at a drill. He tied for the fastest time in the 40 yard dash at 4.44 and is now on the list again. This time it is for the broad jump. His broad jump stats were recorded at 9’5″ and 9’7″. The 9’7″ beat out Derek Lockridge by 1, who record a 9’6″ for both of his attempts. He has quickness and athleticism that can benefit him in numerous ways on the field.

tied for the quickest time in this drill. He recorded 4.44 and 4.56, which is impressive times. There was only a few others that recorded below 4.5 seconds. This can play a big factor on the field, being able to come up with tackles, catching the receivers or running backs, and even coming up with interceptions. If a defense decides to blitz, this kind of speed can contribute to getting a pressure or sack on the quarterback. It is impressive speed and he will be worth keeping an eye on.

messaged us and said that he believed he was the best cornerback in the state. He talked the talk and then he walked the walk on Saturday afternoon. Anytime we run these camps, the wide receivers always outnumber the defensive backs and Saturday was no different. But that just gave the Moore standout more opportunities to showcase his ability to stay with just about every wide receiver in attendance and make a play on the ball and force incompletion after incompletion. And earlier we mentioned that

shared the honor of fastest 40-yard dash time with another positional MVP and that was Dean, who clocked in at 4.44 as well. Our 2024 rankings will come out in a little over a week. We can’t say right now if Dean will be at the top for DB but he made a good case.
