Wright finished with 108 yds from scrimmage Friday night. He ran the ball well in traffic showing the ability to evade defenders. JeSean exhibited good footwork on a 15 yd reception on the sideline.
Antonio Bray
Antonio Bray
Bray has adequate hips & feet coupled with good twitch & speed. He had a couple of PBUs & a game-closing INT. AB showed good anticipation on breaks & a willingness to hit. I look forward to watching Antonio in more press & off-man situations throughout 2022.
The Miami (OH) commit cleared running lanes all game for the Ironmen. Most of the big running plays came behind Smith. He showed great athleticism on a screen block peeling back on a pursuing defender. Smith also registered a sack on defense in the win.
The freshman showed a lot of potential & toughness from the CB spot. He displayed good footwork pedaling & breaking. Da’Ron didn’t deliver any bone-crushing hits, but he showed toughness & consistency coming up to tackle. Not sure how DB plays press or off-man due to not seeing any clips in man coverage. Barksdale led Steel Valley with 9 tackles on the day.
Jenkins showed a lot of accuracy & arm strength on several throws. On one TD completion, he rolled left, & threw right across the field with accuracy & zip on the ball. He completed outs & timing routes with good anticipation & precision. Josh finished the game 17/28 275 yds, 3 TDs & led the Vikings rushing with 69 yds.
Deigo once again displayed his explosion finishing with 2 TDs on the day. Ellis showed his acceleration & burst on a kick return that went for a TD. DE actually had 2 kick return TDs, but one was called back due to a penalty. The senior also had a TD reception at WR. At CB Deigo didn’t allow any Steel Valley WR the opportunity to be relevant offensively.
Jay led the Vikings in receiving yards catching a long TD reception from Jenkins to open the scoring. Jay also showed good elusiveness and ball skills in the close loss. Jaymont averaged 29.7 yds per catch & finished 3/89 yds, & 2 TDs receiving.
The senior FBS product was a menace on defense. He showed a lot of physicality on multiple tackles coming down from strong safety to help in run support. Dre’s athletic ability was evident on offense he was 2/81 yds receiving. Miller-Ross lead the defense with 9 tackles vs the Ironmen.
Highlights
Davis finished with 90 all-purposed yards on Friday. Zay’s versatility offensively will continue to be a matchup problem for opposing WPIAL teams.
