Two teams absolutely loaded with division 1 prospects will try to make a statement continue to establish themslves on a national level. You will rarely find a game with more talent on the field than this one, therefore all signs point to a competitive matchup. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2>5A: Cactus @ Desert Mountain </h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Two 5A powerhouse teams will square off week 1, and have the potential to see each other in November come playoff time. Both are definitely top 5 in 5A, as Cactus comes off an open division loss to Saguaro while Desert Mountain comes off a 5A playoff loss to Horizon. Ironically, both teams lost to the state champs. Cactus will retain a number of key players, and Desert Mountain will do the same as numerous DM prospects saw their stock sky rocket this offseason. Walden Grove comes off a tough 4-6 season with hopes to turn it around. Prospects [player_tooltip player_id='165886' first='Caleb' last='Lyden'] and [player_tooltip player_id='169447' first='Gabriel' last='Smith'] will have to step up and be those key guys to lead Walden Grove to success. CDO comes off a 7-5 season from a year ago and will retain standout QB [player_tooltip player_id='165945' first='Caden' last='Dawes']. Fountain Hills new head coach Sean Moran has his team hungry and ready to compete, as they start 2022 with a close 20-14 loss vs Chino Valley come off a fresh 22-14 win over Dysart. Scottsdale Christian has been historically dominant at the 2A level, and will have to rely on prospects Coby Tabet, [player_tooltip player_id='115535' first='Andrew' last='Trapp'], and Jack Atkinson to get it done. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2>2A: Scottsdale Prep @ Camp Verde</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Scottsdale Prep enters this contest 2-0 while Camp Verde comes off a close 34-33 win over Valley Lutheran. Coach Gronwald has done a phenomenal job thus far turning that Camp Verde program around and could have something cookin for an underdog 2A program. 2024 QB Tyson Buckley comes off a 374 yard 4 TD game for Camp Verde, but Scottsdale Prep's defense has given up just 6 points in two games thus far, making it a interesting matchup. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
