We wrap up the Top 100 with another standout WR. While Mekai isn’t the biggest target at 5’9″ 160 lbs, he has proven to be a real problem for defensive backfields. Ward is a dominant vertical threat with speed that gets him behind DBs and off to the races after the catch. A race he essentially always wins. Mekai also wins with his agility and burst. Those two traits make him an effective route runner on short/intermediate routes. He can open up the necessary separation for his QB. He has the skills to fit well in the slot at the next level. Give the tape a watch.

Mekai might be a sleeper pick because he only had 37 receptions in 2022. However, nobody did more with their opportunities. Ward averaged an insane 25.2 yards per reception. Mekai is elusive with the ball in his hands, and he has the speed to get behind the defense for the big plays. Even with his 37 catches, Ward finished 14th in receiving yards. With more opportunities we could see him be at the top of the charts. He also plays for a team that could make a solid run this year, so he should get those coveted postseason games to add to his totals. Keep an eye on Ward. The tape is going to be fun to watch, and the numbers should be special.

The 5’9″ 160 lbs WR is an electric weapon out wide. When opponents choose to let him have a free release he makes them pay. Ward has the speed to run away from DBs, and he will eat up cushions. Once he closes on DBs, Ward’s quickness is able to make DBs bite and then he can break away from them for big separation for his QB to target. Mekai has the body control to be able to hit his breaks at top speed, and if he loses any speed through the break he accelerates quickly back to top speed. It is hard to run with him man to man, and if you don’t try to get hands on him he will be a nightmare for teams.
