Program Deep-Dive Class 7A: The Catholic Rockets

We are nearing the end of spring football camps and programs are getting a good idea of what it is their team may look like come the fall. Players are getting an idea of what is working for them as far as their training and diets are concerned. At the same time, new and veteran coaches are figuring out what may or may not be working for them. Whether it is the drills they do, or the scrimmage games played coaches and players are fine tuning their games on the regular. In this series I will be covering as many schools as I can, from as many different classes as I can. ln this article we will take a look at the class 7A (LR) Catholic Rockets. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="240356" first="Sam" last="Sanders"] #16</strong> <strong>QB</strong> <strong>c/o 2023</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="240356" first="Sam" last="Sanders"] is coming off of a successful 2021 season. A season where Sanders was named to the 7A All-State team. Sam makes solid reads pre-snap, as well as having good command of the offense. Sanders stands at 6’2" 185lbs and has that big arm that coaches love, and Sanders isn’t scared to use it. Whether going for a short, medium, or a deep throw Sanders does a very good job of leading his receivers. Sam and this Rocket offense are ready to "take off" in 2022. <strong>Jake Lacewell #39</strong> <strong>MLB</strong> <strong>c/o 2024</strong> Jake Lacewell is a solid middle linebacker looking to continue his success from the 2021 season. A season where Jake found himself selected to first-team all-city. Lacewell is a 5’9" 185lb menace on the football field. Jake is a solid tackler with good anticipation and a quick first step. He displays good vision on the football field, as well he has a high motor. Lacewell and the Rockets defense are coming for opposing offenses in 2022. <strong>Adam Johnson #73</strong> <strong>OL</strong> <strong>c/o 2024</strong> Adam Johnson is an offensive lineman any team or coach would love to have. At 6’3" 280lbs Johnson is strong, he is mobile, and he has a mean streak. His 5.6 40-yard dash make him a threat when run blocking as well. He is a mauler through and through. Johnson displays great footwork and loves a good pancake block. Having an offensive lineman who can carry the weight in both the run and pass game is a huge advantage for any team to have. Johnson and this Rocket offensive line look to be the brick wall that this offense needs in the 2022 season. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="273027" first="Brooks" last="Ward"] #18</strong> <strong>WR</strong> <strong>c/o 2024</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="273027" first="Brooks" last="Ward"] makes a wide receivers’ job look easy on the football field. His film was fun to watch. At 6’2" 190lbs, Ward runs a 4.6 40-yard dash, and has a 25" vertical. Brooks has great hands and is able to make just about any type of catch. Ward has a quick first step, he runs smooth routes, and knows when to turn on the jets. Brooks is a legitimate threat on the outside or in the redzone. He and this Catholic offense look to make some big strides in the 2022 season. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;
