They have shown the grit, attitude, plus the talent it takes to compete at a high level. Some of these young men are ahead of their time, while others are still developing and training. When these young prospects become, bigger, stronger, and faster, they will start to catch the attention of college scouts and coaches along the way. Without delay, let’s go ahead and appreciate the young talent that is presented in the city of Austin, Texas!
Easton Aird- 5’11 173Ibs/MLB/ Lake Travis
Analysis: Easton Aird is a linebacker that already has the skill set it takes to play with the big boys. His closing speed on quarterbacks is amazing. He times his blitzes well and makes sure he is in position to make a great play in the backfield. Aird has pretty good combine numbers for a freshman. He clocked a 4.89 40 yard dash with a bench of 225 pounds, and a squat max of 325 pounds showing his strength. Aird is great at using his long arms to swat down passes on a rush as well! Finally, Aird is a very good tackler in the box and in the open field. Look out for this young man when he plays on varsity soon!
Bairn McCathron- 6’1 240Ibs/G/ Lake Travis High School
Analysis: Bairn McCathron’s play is extraordinary on the gridiron! In the run blocking game , he is looking to take someone’s head off each and every time, especially when he is pulling! He is very physical and does a great job creating pancakes using his leverage and technique! Next, this young freshman has good speed for a guard his size. I mean this young man can move! Bairn McCathron is legit and it shows! He does an excellent job at driving his feet, and finding someone to lay a hat on every play. With more development training in the future, I see McCathron becoming a guard that can potentially rack up some offers when he is on varsity.
Richard Grigg- 5’10 240Ibs/T/ Austin Westlake High School
Analysis: Richard Grigg is one of the players on this list that I believe is a sleeper. By watching his play on the gridiron, Grigg has shown he has massive explosion off of the ball. He has a lot of strength, but his footwork still needs a bit more improvement. Grigg keeps his leverage consistently to make sure he maintains his blocks. Also, he does a great job at looking for someone to block even though no one is in front on him. Keep an eye on him moving forward!
Kent Sullivan- 5’9 150Ibs/RB/ Vandegrift High School
Analysis: Kent Sullivan is a very powerful running back at the freshman level. He runs with authority and power which makes him very difficult to bring down. This young man will not go down unless you completely wrap him up and hit him properly. He still needs to improve on his quickness and speed, but he is still fast enough to pull away from defenders in the open field. Finally, his use of good vision between the holes makes him a reliable weapon on the field. He will only improve in the years to come!
David Miller- 6’3 163Ibs/DE/ Dripping Springs High School
Analysis: David Miller has a lot of room of improvement, but he has shown plenty of potential. He is a decent tackler, and does a tremendous job getting to the quarterback. With more training in the weight room, he will become a lot more dominant on offensive linemen. He already has the stature, but with more experience and improved technique when he is taking on blocks, or shedding them, he will become a force on defense! Despite all of this, he is a very physical player and sets the edges well too which is crucial at the defensive end position! Look for him to get better and become a weapon on defense!
