Finally getting back to do write-ups and I wanted to highlight some uncommitted 2022 players. Here are 6 seniors that have yet to sign with a team and definitely deserve more recruiting hype. This article features four players from championship-winning teams (Edwards, Curry, Logemann, Van Cleave) and two players that come from winning programs (Renken and Borchers). These are high-caliber players that would bring a lot of talent and versatility to a locker room.

Connor was a huge contributor to Gretna’s defensive success. As a team captain for the Dragons, Edwards did anything that was asked of him and then some. Edwards primarily played an outside linebacker role and did an excellent job rushing the edge and setting contain in the run game. On occasion, he also slipped into the strong safety/nickel role and did great in pass coverage. Edwards is a smart tackler and doesn’t allow much room to escape his grasp. During his senior year, Connor racked up 63 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, and recovered a fumble for a touchdown. His eight tackles for loss and three sacks show his ability to get into the backfield and make plays behind the line of scrimmage. He has a quick get-off, and his motor is non-stop. On top of his spectacular play, he is also a great leader on and off the field for a championship team and would be a great addition to any roster.

<em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="164890" first="Gavin" last="Logemann"] (WR) | Archbishop Bergan | 6’4" 180 lbs</strong></em>
<em><strong><a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/11643791/Gavin-Logemann" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hudl</a> | <a href="https://twitter.com/GavinLogemann1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter</a></strong></em>
Gavin is a player that I think is severely under-the-radar on the recruiting circuit. Logemann is a tall, athletic receiver with tons of length and hops. Gavin had a tremendous junior year in which he caught 35 passes for 602 yards and 11 touchdowns. The emergence of several players on the Knight’s offense caused a dip in Gavin’s stats, but he still managed to maximize his touches. He was especially dangerous in the red zone, where he used every inch of his 6-foot-4 frame to high point the ball and outjump defensive backs. In his senior year, he caught 17 passes for 175 yards and scored 6 touchdowns, including a touchdown in the state championship to help secure Bergan’s championship. He has strong hands and uses his length to create separation and make catches away from his body. Logemann is also an underrated return man with a 31.8 average kickoff return on five attempts and a return touchdown on his resume. Gavin is a player that can create matchup nightmares with the speed and hands lineup against anyone and is a reliable target in short-distance situations. With some added bulk, I could see him being moved to tight end and tearing up small slot corners and slower linebackers. LOTS of potential with this guy!

<em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="245900" first="Chevalier" last="Curry"] (DL) | Bennington | 6’0" 240 lbs </strong></em>
<em><strong><a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/13358981/Chevalier-Curry" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hudl</a> | <a href="https://twitter.com/Doggie66C" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter</a></strong></em>
Chevalier is another underrated player that played a huge role on a championship team. Curry did a tremendous job in the interior of the defensive line for the Badgers, eating up blockers and helping shut down the run game. Chevalier tallied an impressive 80 tackles and 140 total tackles over his junior and senior seasons, primarily from the defensive tackle position. He has a great motor on him and is always playing hard until the end of the play. Curry does an excellent job with his hand placement and ability to disengage from blockers. Chevalier participated at the Stock Up Showcase and continued to impress with his one-on-one drills’ performance. He is a little undersized for interior DL but he is still quicker of the snap than a lot of offensive linemen and he has a strong anchor when simply needs to post up and take on blockers. Curry is a humble guy that likes to put his nose to the grindstone and let his work on the field do the talking.

<em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="193835" first="Adam" last="Van Cleave"] (ATH) | Columbus Lakeview | 5’10" 165 lbs</strong></em>
<em><strong><a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/11238850/Adam-Van-Cleave" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hudl</a> | <a href="https://twitter.com/AdamVanCleave2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter</a></strong></em>
Yet another under-recruited state champion, [player_tooltip player_id="193835" first="Adam" last="Van Cleave"], might have had the most significant impact on his team’s success. Adam was a do-it-all athlete that terrorized defenses with his running and pass-catching ability. Van Cleave rushed for 1,195 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns, with an additional 591 receiving yards on 27 receptions and 8 touchdowns. Adam and the Lakeview Vikings were on a mission in 2021 and dominated once they got their footing. Adam’s versatility and athleticism are his biggest assets as they allow him to project as a receiver or a running back at the next level. On top of that, he is also a dangerous return man. In his senior year, Van Cleave further developed into one of the top home-run scorers in the state with long touchdown runs, receptions, and kick returns. He has elite vision and can change direction without compromising his speed. Van Cleave would be a very versatile addition to any team.

<em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="193804" first="Cole" last="Renken"] (OL) | Millard South | 6’5" 250 lbs</strong></em>
<em><strong><a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/11458195/Cole-Renken" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hudl</a> | <a href="https://twitter.com/cole_renken" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter</a></strong></em>
Cole is a player that is surprisingly still available at this point. Cole is a big, tough mauler on the offensive line. He was in charge of holding down the left tackle position and did a great job in doing so. Renken is a player that finishes on every play and loves to drive his opponents into the dirt. Cole wins with his physicality but also has some underrated big man speed to his game that allows him to move up into the second and third level of the defense. With such an explosive Patriot’s running game, there are several plays where you can see Cole 10 yards downfield plowing over defenders for his runners. On top of physical, he is also versatile as he moved to guard on occasion. Renken comes from a good high school program and brings a winning mentality to the collegiate level.

<em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="191199" first="Devon" last="Borchers"] (RB/LB) | Columbus Scotus | 5’11" 180 lbs</strong></em>
<em><strong><a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/11292608/Devon-Borchers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hudl</a> | <a href="https://twitter.com/DevonBorchers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter</a></strong></em>
Columbus Scotus ’ [player_tooltip player_id="191199" first="Devon" last="Borchers"] would be a prime candidate if there were an award for hardest runners in the state. Borchers is a bruising back that rushed for 1,375 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns on 231 carries and an average of 6 yards per rush. He plays a lot bigger than his size and is very hard to bring down on first contact. Borchers did the most of his running downhill and through the heart of the defense. He really took the air out of many defenses with many tackle-breaking, high knee-pumping, shoulder pad-smashing runs and showed his excellent balance when he runs. Devon has a great burst through his gaps and does a great job accelerating when he hits the open field. He also caught passes out of the backfield and added an extra wrinkle to his game. On top of being a bruising RB, he is also a tough linebacker that plays just as physically as he does on offense. Borchers is a throwback football player that thrives on contact and plays hard.
