Watchlist
Volume 6
There is no such thing as an off-season if you genuinely invested in developing your craft as an athlete, heck, or anything. Many prospects have to use the month of March to take a lot of unofficial visits to check out the campus and meet the coaches. On a lot of those visits, you got commitments and many offers to the prospects in Ohio. This version of the watchlist will cover some of the recent scholarship offers and verbal commitments in Ohio.
Grant Zimmerly Grant Zimmerly 6'4" | 275 lbs | OL Perrysburg | 2023 State OH c/o 2023 – Perrysburg
Position: OL
6’5 275 lbs
Notes:
This relentlessly physical human being is not a nice guy on the football field. After missing last season due to an injury, the University of Toledo landed a gem of a prospect in Zimmerly. Since he was an 8th grader and towered older brother Cade, Grant has been on my radar. This verbal is a massive boost to the Toledo Rockets 2023 class by landing local talent. Grant is as tough as they come and will compete as soon as he hits campus.
Mason Ludwig Mason Ludwig 6'5" | 275 lbs | OL East Liverpool | 2023 State OH c/o 2023 – East Liverpool
Position: OL
6’5 280 lbs
Notes:
The Rockets have landed another anchor for their 2023 offensive line with Ludwig. Toledo is getting an offensive lineman with a mean streak who loves to finish off his blocks. Zimmerly and Ludwig’s commitment to Toledo shows why they have dominated the MAC in Recruiting since 2016. Mason was one of the top players during the 2021 All – Ohio showcase and impressed many scouts before his junior season. You can expect another monster performance from the three-sport athlete this fall.
Evan Tengesdahl Evan Tengesdahl 6'4" | 280 lbs | OL Huber Heights Wayne | 2023 State OH c/o 2023 – Wayne
Position: OL
6’4 285 lbs
Notes:
Wayne High School has tons of talent walking through the doors, which holds high standards. Evan is the type of player that gets better with time, like fine wine! I first had a chance to scout Evan at the 2021 All-Ohio Showcase, and he did not disappoint! The Bearcats got another giant paw print from southern Ohio a little while back from Tengesdahl. Evan is joining the ranks with one of the up-and-coming top programs in the country at UC, and it will only get more difficult for UC to keep him as he is one of the best in the region at his position. Lastly, I had to see Evan at the UA All-American camp, and he looked the part as he has gotten bigger and better with his skills and technique. You can expect a massive year from Wayne as they will have one of the best O-Lines in the state.
Michael Kilbane Michael Kilbane 6'4" | 240 lbs | DL St. Edward | 2023 State OH c/o 2023 – St. Edwards
Position: DL
Notes:
The 2021 St. Edwards football roster with talent all across the board, and they brought home the State title as proof! Kilbane is one good human off the field, but he is a bad man between the lines. Michael was another player that I found out about during the 2021 All-Ohio Showcase; his performance was dominant! Kilbane holds 25 plus offers from colleges all across the nation and is one of the top players in his class in Ohio. I’m not sure where he will end up, but whoever wins the Kilbane sweepstakes will get a brutal and edgy defender.
Arvell Reese c/o 2023 – Glenville
Position: LB
Notes:
Glenville’s physically gifted and savvy football player is one of the best backers I’ve seen in a while. Reese blew up on the scene this offseason as almost every big college in the region has taken an interest in his skill set. Reese played the 2021 season with Euclid high school and was one of the toughest players on the team by many opposing coaches and players I spoke to last month. With only five games in at LB and a new start under the Tarblooders in 2022, you can expect to see this rising star gain national attention over the summer and fall.
