Back in late March of this year, Donnelly announced his decision to commit to the University of Pennsylvania. Donnelly will remain close to home, presumably a factor in his decision. Central Bucks East will likely deploy Donnelly all over the field, the senior has done so much in terms of alignment over the years, I can’t imagine not using the TE as an HBack or LB. UPenn is getting a real football player, one who succeeds in the classroom as well as in the weight room.

Many of the TEs scouted thus far have shown TE/OL capabilities. Donnelly is a legit pass-catcher that moves smoothly through the trenches when aligned in tight. Impressive release off the line of scrimmage, this 6’4 target eats up cushion in a hurry and catches LBs and safeties off guard often. Donnelly eats in the middle of the field, he possesses great awareness off the snap to know when to get his head around for rockets from his QB. Can chip and release in red zone situations, a huge plus when projecting him to the next level. A proficient edge rusher yet raw when it comes to projecting him to this position. 10 TFLs, sacks registered by Donnelly show he can produce off the edge, yet I’m uncertain if he’ll get looks for this role. It should still help his overall recruitment. Donnelly received an FCS grade out of me.

We legitimately think Donnelly is one of the better pure pass-catching tight ends in Pennsylvania. He flashed some of said skills this past weekend, coming away with 3 receptions, all of which were of significant difficulty. He’s listed at 6’1, yet I have a hard time believing that. This kid looks significantly bigger.
