We started with the 2022 class and then last week, we updated the 2023 rankings with our new Top 125. We’ll also update the 2024 class and release our first ever rankings on the 2025 class at the end of month. After each ranking update, we’ll also have several posts breaking down the prospects. In this post, we put a spotlight on five prospects that made their debuts in the recent ranking update. For these five prospects, this last update was the first time they found themselves in the 2023 rankings. [player_tooltip player_id="287378" first="Caden" last="Tahbonemah"] - Offensive Lineman - Lawton MacArthur After the breakout season of 2022 running back [player_tooltip player_id="219244" first="Isaiah" last="Gray"], it makes perfect sense to look to the Lawton MacArthur offensive line to see who was paving the way for some of those big runs. We found one 2023 offensive lineman for sure with [player_tooltip player_id="287378" first="Caden" last="Tahbonemah"]. The Lawton Mac big man earned his spot in the recent ranking update with his successful junior season. That’s the thing with offensive linemen. Their success is tied to the running game in a lot of different ways. If you have a breakout star like Gray, more times than not, you also have a few breakout players on the line of scrimmage. Tahbonemah is a name to watch out for throughout this offseason. [player_tooltip player_id="287379" first="Kameron" last="Estrada"] - Defensive Lineman - Jones We go from the offensive line to the defensive line with the first of two defensive lineman prospects. Jones defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="287379" first="Kameron" last="Estrada"] is a name that we’ve known about for about a year and we can’t wait to see what he looks like this offseason and going into his senior season. Jones was primarily known for their offense over the last two seasons but the combination of Estrada returning and severe losses to the offensive side of the ball could make the Longhorns look quite different in 2022. Estrada is a very physical lineman that can move around on the line of scrimmage and cause problems for just about every member of an opposing offensive line. [player_tooltip player_id="287377" first="Taje" last="McCoy"] - Defensive Lineman - Putnam City It seems like within every class, a prospect emerges so fast that he goes from being somewhat unknown to a Top 20-30 prospect in the class. And most of the time it’s because the prospect has been offered by a P5 school. That was the case for Putnam City defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="287377" first="Taje" last="McCoy"]. We’ll be the first to admit that we didn’t know anything about McCoy and then all of a sudden he was offered by Oklahoma State after a visit to Stillwater. We got very familiar with McCoy’s game after that and realized that not only should he belong in the 2023 update, but he’s one of the better defensive lineman prospects in the state’s 2023 class. McCoy is off to a great start this offseason. [player_tooltip player_id="157521" first="Taylor" last="Heim"] - Athlete - Bethany It seems like every time we update the rankings, pretty soon after the update is up, we find another prospect or prospects that should have been included. When we updated the 2023 rankings back in October, it wasn’t long after that we saw Bethany standout [player_tooltip player_id="157521" first="Taylor" last="Heim"] and realized that not only should he have been included but he should have been relatively high in the rankings. We’re very interested to see what Heim looks like moving forward as Bethany loses some firepower in the 2022 class but Heim should keep them as a top ten team and a serious contender moving forward. He has the ability to change a game in a variety of ways. [player_tooltip player_id="268334" first="Ce’Alm" last="Kilpatrick II"] - Defensive Back - Sallisaw We haven’t been shy about our breakdowns and analysis of Sallisaw defensive back [player_tooltip player_id="268334" first="Ce’Alm" last="Kilpatrick II"] or better known simply as "Sim". The Sallisaw standout is one of the best cover cornerbacks that we’ve seen in this 2023 class. He’s on the verge of being one of the more sought after DB’s in the state’s class. His skills are nearly all there and there isn’t any reason why schools shouldn’t be making him a priority when trying to get a cornerback in the ’23 class. The only thing we want to see from Kilpatrick is see how he looks in person when the pads come on. We’ve seen quite a bit of him in camps and 7v7 tournaments but we want to see how his play translates once the pads come on.
