Expert Analysis

Lewis has been one of the more under recruited prospects across the northern California region for the past couple of years and is a no-brainer next level prospect at multiple positions. He is a big and physical athlete the moves extremely well for his size and has a good initial explosion, hand violence and it is a mismatch against defenders downfield. He has been starting both ways for one of the top smaller school teams in the state for a few years now, and had a strong performance in week 5. The star senior had just under 75 yards receiving and a score, while hitting the 8+ tackle marker once again and providing a consistent pass rush off the edge the entire game.

Had the chance to watch several of his games this year where he dominated on both sides of the ball and made some unbelievable plays in big moments. At 6’4” 230 lbs. he flashes great athleticism at both TE and DE. He explodes off the ball with a quick first step to disrupt plays as they are developing. He shows high level awareness and ability to read run/pass to put himself in position to make plays. Powerful at the contact point, he plays with leverage and his natural strength allows him to control blockers and then disengage on his way to the ball. He’s got great natural movement skills and range to chase and close space on the ball carrier. He’s pure football player that can take over a game and is a problem for opposing teams to gameplan for on both sides of the ball. One of the more under recruited players in northern California but has the size and ability to pop off at any moment.

Lewis has been one of the top players across the valley since his Freshman season for Escalon, and helps anchor one of the top small schools in the state across the defensive line. He is another heavy puncher, controls blockers with his hands and wins with leverage, lock out and can toss off blockers with power and a low hat. When pass rushing, he has a nice bull-rush, snatch and can collapse the pocket quickly with closing speed and some range when tracking down ball carriers in the open field. For his size, he is a freaky athlete that can move and never leaves the field as a two-way guy at tight end. Offensively, he is a mismatch nightmare in the slot and red-zone with strong hands and can make contested catches. It is only a matter of time until he gets offered by a FCS+ school, and entering 2024 he will be one of the top players Norcal has in this loaded 2025 class across the defensive line.
