Continue ReadingThis weekend NextGen will be invading the Ford Center At The Star in Frisco, Texas for The Mega Event. The invite-only event is giving quarterbacks and offensive/defensive linemen an opportunity to participate in a highly competitive atmosphere with some of most talented athletes in the country at those positions.
The MEGA VI will be a quarterback competition for athletes in the class of 2027 up through class of 2023. As of this posting there are over 100 quarterbacks from 34 different states registered for the event. Of those quarterbacks registered, nearly 40 are middle school signal callers with bright futures.
An added bonus for The Mega is that Tom Brady’s group, TB12, will be coming in to teach the quarterbacks Tom Brady’s workouts. In addition to installing Tom Brady’s six core values of Leadership, Teamwork, Commitment, Character, Confidence and Mindfulness.
The on-field work will be heavy, so let’s look at some of the quarterbacks who will be there and some predictions on who I expect to shine.
Headliners – Class of 2026
Kane Archer Kane Archer 6'1" | 205 lbs | QB Greenwood Bulldogs | 2026 State AR | Arkansas
A 6-foot, 185-pound quarterback that is rocked up. Already holds offers from Michigan, Missouri and his home-state Razorbacks before entering high school. Fresh off the Under Armour Next All-American Game in Orlando.
Julian Lewis | Georgia
Smooth operating quarterback at 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds. Humble, quiet, hardworking kid who will have his pick of nearly any school in the country come NSD 2026. Already holds offers from Penn State, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Florida and more.
Saeed Williams | Virginia
A dual-threat quarterback with a ton of athleticism to go with it. Technically advanced and puts in a lot of work off the field. Fresh off the Under Armour Next All-American Game in Orlando.
Michael Clayton | Florida
At this point doesn’t have the hype that other quarterbacks attending the event do, but I expect that to change quickly. Freaky arm strength and accuracy on deep balls. Led the Pine Hills Trojans to Pop Warner National Championship.
Quentyn Demara | California
At 5-foot-10 and 160 pounds, he’s a little shorter than those mentioned above but he can spin it. Throws a beautiful deep ball for just being in the 8th grade. Recently picked up his first offer from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Jackson Presley | California
Big, powerful stereotypical quarterback at 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds. Physically advanced and looks like everything you could want in an up-and-coming quarterback. Has already visited Oregon and Oregon State. No offers yet, but they’re coming.
Ashton Pannell | California
The 5-foot-10, 150-pound quarterback led the So. Cal Trojans to an AYF Regional title and a National Championship Week berth. Calm and confident QB that can make any throw asked of him. Has already visited USC and Oregon State.
Conner Quintero | Oklahoma
Passes the eye test right away for just being in the eighth grade. Big, long, athletic and strong quarterback who can make a lot of big time throws. Comfortable throwing on the run. Has already visited Oklahoma State and Arkansas.
Angelo Renda | Texas
He’s up next in the long-storied history of elite Southlake Carroll football players. Led the Dragons to undefeated seasons in seventh and eighth grade. Three-sport athlete who is as coachable as you’d ever want. Just starting to scratch surface of how good he will be.
Nate Parker | California
All Parker did this year was throw for 3,114 yards and account for 40 total touchdowns. Led his 14U Saddleback Valley Pop Warner team to a Regional Championship and earned a birth in the Pop Warner National Championship Tournament. Unreal touch on the long ball. Once he physically grows to match his arm talent, he’s going to be a problem.
Something to Prove – Class of 2026
Kase Evans | Texas
Was an Under Armour Next All-American in January. Carries a natural chip on his shoulder. Is a deadly accurate passer and has a strong arm on intermediate routes, but gives up a fair amount of height compared to other quarterbacks. Will current physical limitations matter?
Derek Zammit | New Jersey
The only New Jersey middle school baller registered for the event. Put up video game numbers for his team in northern, New Jersey but played significantly weaker competition than other quarterbacks. Will he step up?
Helaman Casuga | Utah
Crazy athletic kid who is very fun to watch on film. Arguably fits the label of “dual-threat” more than any other quarterback coming to the event. Will drills allow for his true talent to be displayed and real impact to be felt?
Mason Griffin | Kentucky
The reigning Division 1 Region 4 middle school player of the year in Kentucky. Live arm with a high level of accuracy. Took some lumps in the FBU National Championship tournament for Kentucky. How will he bounce back?
JD Brown | Florida
Love everything about his throwing motion, his attention to detail and the zip on the ball coming out of his hand. Only boxes he doesn’t check at this point are size related. How will that alter his performance?
More QB Talent – Class of 2026
Asher Bush | Georgia – Has been selected for many all-star games this off-season. Extremely hard working in the off-season.
Brady Palmer | Illinois – The only ’26 quarterback coming from Illinois to the event. In limited film I’ve seen of him, throws a nice intermediate ball.
Jaxson Dosh | Michigan – All he does is win–19 straight. Fresh off undefeated eighth grade season with 754 passing yards and 13 touchdowns.
Isaac Harney | Nevada – A familiar face to NextGen, as he won an MVP with Team Future at the The Show last summer.
Josiah Oxendine | North Carolina – A quarterback quickly starting to open eyes. Built very solid. Already visited NC State and Coastal Carolina.
Davian Garcia | Texas – Tall and wirey quarterback who looks like he was built to play the position. Extremely natural throwing motion. Also standout baseball player.
Braeden Imhoff | Texas – Next in line at Prosper High School. A little short at this point but is one of the best pure athletes attending The MEGA VI.
Kevin Joiner Jr. | Texas – Very good looking athlete with quick feet. A member of the True Buzz 7on7 National 14U Team this off-season.
Quinn Murphy | Texas – From a football IQ standpoint, could be the most high school-ready quarterback coming to the event. Fundamentally sound QB and threw for 2,555 yards and 29 touchdowns this past year.
Jordan Phillips | Texas – Looks like the eighth grade version of Kyler Murray in terms of stature and ability. Accounted for 1,015 yards of total offense this past year.
