That shift in attention has led to a couple athletes from the Class of 2023 to receive their first offers from the college level. TE Nollenn Tabaska Nollenn Tabaska 6'7" | 230 lbs | TE Brookfield East | 2023 State WI out of Brookfield East and edge rusher Brent Hoppe Brent Hoppe 6'4" | 230 lbs | DL Turner | 2023 State WI out of Turner HS lead the way earning the first FBS offers for the WI Class of 2023. That’s not even close to where the talent ends, though. Today, I want to highlight 10 athletes who I believe are next up to receive offers from the FCS or FBS levels. Each of the 10 athletes have plenty of interest from the D1 levels, and they have the talent to play at that level. So, it is only a matter of time until they get the call and land their first offers. Let’s dive into the film of each athlete!
Nate White Nate White 6'0" | 175 lbs | RB Rufus King | 2023 State WI , ATH- Rufus King
The 6’ 175 lbs athlete dominated his junior season from the QB position where he tore up defenses with his legs. Nate’s 4.5 speed translates to the field, but he isn’t just a straight line athlete. White has elite short area agility and change of direction. His cuts and jukes are so sharp while also happening at full speed. His acceleration is another elite trait. Nate can go from standing in the pocket to top speed in a matter of steps making it very difficult for defenses to contain him if they don’t have him corralled from the snap. Nate is a natural playmaker too. Week after week he puts out film of himself making the special, rare play look easy. Lastly, his feel and vision with the ball in his hands allows him to maximize blocks, and find cut back lanes allowing him to always move forward and keep green grass in front of him. Thomas Paasch Thomas Paasch 6'7" | 295 lbs | OL Green Bay Southwest | 2023 State WI , OL- Green Bay Southwest
The 6’6″ 295 lbs OT has himself in position to take the OL1 spot in the Class of 2023 here in WI. The big man has a massive frame, but he doesn’t carry a lot of excess weight despite weighing 295 lbs. That clean frame comes with elite level arm length allowing him to always initiate contact so he can gain leverage and control of his defender. Thomas demonstrates consistent body control as he slides to mirror pass rushers, and he does a good job of staying in his pass set and punching instead of reaching. It’s clear that Paasch also possesses heavy hands and the overall strength to be able to wash defensive linemen down the line or off the ball in the run game. Things are going to pick up for Thomas as time goes on. Check him out. Thomas’ Junior Season Highlights
Blake Fletcher Blake Fletcher 6'2" | 220 lbs | LB Horlick | 2023 State WI , LB- Racine Horlick
The 6’3″ 220 lbs LB is one of the best recruits in the state. He is dominant against the run where he fills his gap aggressively, yet under control. His football IQ is clearly high as he quickly diagnoses plays and then uses his high level of athleticism to make sure he is in the right position to make a play. Blake is also a devastating tackler who stops ball carriers in their tracks when he makes contact. Fletcher’s strong acceleration out of his two point stance has made him an effective blitzer who can get through gaps without having to tip that he is blitzing. Blake has the tools to be firmly in the LB1 running for the Class of 2023. Check out his film here! Blake’s Junior Season Highlights
Zander Rockow Zander Rockow 6'1" | 240 lbs | ATH Eau Claire Regis | 2023 State WI , LB- Regis
The 6’1″ 220 lbs two way star out of Regis is one of the top athletes in the state. That big frame comes with 4.5 speed allowing him to dominate at the high school level on both sides of the ball. At the next level, Rockow looks like he best fits at the LB position where he can use his big frame and speed to be a three down option for a defense. Zander is at his best against the inside run where he can use his power to disengage with blocks and make the stop. That power is so plentiful that it allowed him to play along the DL quite a bit as a junior. Zander also is gifted with the short area agility and burst making him very difficult to land blocks on consistently. Zander’s Junior Season Highlights
David Gauderman David Gauderman 6'2" | 225 lbs | ATH Wittenberg-Birnamwood | 2023 State WI , LB- Wittenberg- Birnamwood
The 6’2″ 230 lbs OLB was a beast for Wittenberg- Birnamwood this season! David is one of the state’s hardest hitters and you don’t have to watch too far into his film to see an example of him decleating a ball carrier. David has a timed 40 at 4.88, but he plays even faster than that off the edge. Whether in a two or three point stance, Gauderman possesses the first step quickness to allow him to gain leverage on OTs as he flies off the edge. The trait that really stands out while watching David is his eye discipline. He always knows where the ball is and then relies on his athleticism to allow him to get to it. Gauderman is going to be a fun chess piece for a DC at the next level. He can play on the edge or off the ball, and you can count on him to be an impact player. Excited to see the offers begin to come in for him. David’s Junior Season Highlights
Chase Spellman Chase Spellman 6'4" | 230 lbs | QB Kettle Moraine | 2024 WI , QB- Kettle Moraine
The 6’3″ 220 lbs signal caller has the prototypical build for the position at the next level, and it comes with the traits to succeed as well. The most impressive part of Chase’s junior season is he dominated his junior season while playing with a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder. So you can check off toughness when scouting Spellman. The arm talent is there in spades, even with the injury. Chase is able to not only drive the ball or drop it between layers of the defense, he is able to do it with spot on accuracy. Spellman is able to quickly see the leverage a DB is playing with or the soft spots in zone coverage and place the ball in a way that best attacks it. Spellman is also an effective, opportunistic runner. When the defense gives him a lane he can break their backs. Most importantly, Chase is clutch in big moments. He does a good job of labeling some of it in his film. He knows when to audible into better plays, he delivers consistently on key third and fourth downs, and keeps his eyes downfield at all times despite pressure. Chase’s Junior Season Highlights
Najeh Mitchell Najeh Mitchell 5'9" | 175 lbs | ATH West De Pere | 2023 State WI , RB- West De Pere
The 5’9″ 170 lbs athlete has a good shot at becoming the most dangerous weapon out of the backfield in the state of WI next season. His combination as a runner and receiver is unmatched as of now. His 4.38 speed is impossible to contain at the high school level. To make it even more unfair, Najeh has lightning quick change of direction skills that allow him to go from corralled to the open field with just one juke. As a runner, Mitchell’s vision makes his acceleration and speed even more dangerous because he is able to see things developing before they actually happen. This makes it so he isn’t just the fastest player on the field, he is also a step ahead because he can process so quickly. As a receiver, Najeh uses that elite speed to be a mismatch nightmare for LBs and safeties. If he can get the ball in space it is over. Don’t miss out on the elite playmaker. Najeh’s Junior Season Highlights
Nate Kollath Nate Kollath 6'4" | 235 lbs | QB Sussex Hamilton | 2023 State WI , QB- Sussex Hamilton
The 6’3″ 210 lbs QB has a shot at being the #1 dual threat QB for the Class of 2023. Kollath dominated with his arm and legs in 2021. It was impressive to watch him go week to week and take what the defense gave him. Some weeks it was all on his right arm, while other weeks he was carrying the ball 40 times. The big QB is blessed with a intriguing arm. He can attack downfield with the velocity and hit tight windows at any level of the field. I love watching Nate play because as long as he has the ball the play is never dead. He always keeps his eyes downfield even if the pressure is closing in on him. Kollath also does a great job of being able to buy time in the backfield. I believe Nate is just scratching the surface as a passer too, and that is very exciting because he flashes so many exciting traits. He is a very exciting, must watch QB. Nate’s Junior Season Highlights
Will McDonald Will McDonald 6'5" | 235 lbs | DL Hudson | 2023 State WI , DL- Hudson
Conin in at 6’5″ 235 lbs is the freakish defensive linemen from Hudson High School. Will has the length that DCs at the next level dream of and the high motor to match. That motor has allowed Will to make just as many plays as his physical traits have. That relentless effort has a lot of physical traits to help it. McDonald has the play speed to chase down plays in the backfield, and he closes very quickly. Will possesses very active hands that allow him to defeat blocks with an impressive repertoire of rips and swims. He also has a very heavy hand when he clubs OL out of the way. To further exemplify how athletically gifted Will is, he is also a highly touted la crosse player. Don’t miss out on one of the top defenders in the state! Wills Junior Season Highlights
Jaiden Pickett Jaiden Pickett 6'3" | 190 lbs | ATH Riverside University | 2023 State WI , OLB/DB/ATH- Riverside University
The 6’3″ 190 lbs defender is going to be one of the biggest risers over the next year in my opinion. At that size, Jaiden earned All Region DL honors while also dominating as an OLB and DB. Pickett is truly a do it all chess piece on defense that should excite tons of college programs. Jaiden is a twitched up athlete who has an extremely impressive first step off the edge. He does a great job of controlling his elite athleticism as well. So much so that he can stop on a dime, elevate to bat down or pick off passes or change direction with ease. Jaiden has impressive ball skills as well. He is such a natural athlete and playmaker. He is an impact in every way he was used this past season. Jaiden can drop into coverage just as effectively as he can fly off the edge to get after the QB. Just get this dude on the field somewhere and let him make plays for your defense. You won’t regret it. I’m a huge fan of what he did this fall. He is definitely one of the best athletes in Milwaukee. Jaiden’s Junior Season Highlights
