You need to have good offensive line production for any offense to be effective. The big uglies do all the dirty work that makes the machine work, and the 2022 class has some promising prospects that just finished up their last season of high school football. So now it’s time to take a deeper look at some of the state’s offensive line prospects.
[player_tooltip player_id="226821" first="Maleek" last="McNeil"] - Walter Panas
The 6’8 monster has a massive frame but what is the most impressive aspect of [player_tooltip player_id="226821" first="Maleek" last="McNeil"] is his athleticism. I saw him punt a football and then make a touchdown-saving huge hit on the sideline that is very rare from a 300 plus offensive lineman. He also looks fluid on the basketball court showing impressive footwork. McNeil is currently a Penn State commit.
[player_tooltip player_id="228705" first="Asa" last="Neal"] - Erasmus Hall
Out of all the offensive linemen in New York [player_tooltip player_id="228705" first="Asa" last="Neal"] probably faced the best edge players week in and week out, and he dominated! Neal does a great job of getting to the outside shoulder of edge defenders, and once he works up to the next level, and mows down quicker athletes. I think [player_tooltip player_id="228705" first="Asa" last="Neal"] is the most complete offensive lineman in the state for the 2022 class. He currently holds offers from New Hampshire and Rhode Island
[player_tooltip player_id="226822" first="Joe" last="Cruz"] - Sachem North
[player_tooltip player_id="226822" first="Joe" last="Cruz"] is the prototypical left tackle prospect with a tall frame and athletic ability. The Syracuse commit does a great job of showing his potential by showing balance when pulling and in pass blocking. He keeps a good base and is almost impossible to beat outside.
[player_tooltip player_id="226820" first="Alex" last="Heininger"] - Brighton
[player_tooltip player_id="226820" first="Alex" last="Heininger"] is a right tackle mauler who showed why he is a Central Michigan commit. Heininger is cat-quick for his size, and he leverages his quickness to get into defensive lineman before they know what is happening. He does a good or rolling his hips and not letting defenders get off once he is engaged.
[player_tooltip player_id="229913" first="Scott" last="Becker"] - Iona Prep
The moment you watch [player_tooltip player_id="229913" first="Scott" last="Becker"] on film you understand why he is a Princeton commit. [player_tooltip player_id="229913" first="Scott" last="Becker"] is incredibly technical as an offensive guard. He understands the nuances of the position, and it shows with his powerful wide base and incredible balance when pulling. His feet always seem to be under his body, and he doesn’t overreach when dealing with smaller quicker defenders.
[player_tooltip player_id="226823" first="Tahir" last="Dukes"] - Canarsie
[player_tooltip player_id="226823" first="Tahir" last="Dukes"] is another player who played against some of the state’s top talent and he dominated. He is athletic enough to play left tackle and deal with all the speed edge guys and also get upfield on screen passes. I think [player_tooltip player_id="226823" first="Tahir" last="Dukes"] could lineup at either of the tackle positions at the next level. Currently, [player_tooltip player_id="226823" first="Tahir" last="Dukes"] holds offers from Arkansas Pine-Bluff and Toledo.
[player_tooltip player_id="230432" first="Nickolas" last="Molina"] - Cardinal Hayes
[player_tooltip player_id="230432" first="Nickolas" last="Molina"] has all the tools to be a productive player on the next level. At 6’6 he has great length, and he is patient in pass protection. He does a solid job in the run game and can reach the outside of edge players. Currently, Molina holds an offer from Wagner.
