Eye-catching Freshman Prospects Through Week 5

Bryant has gained a lot of steam very early in his high school career and already has offers from Miami (OH) and Kentucky. He also recently visited Vanderbilt, so it's clear that the Maroons standout has a very high ceiling at the high school level. In his first few games for PCHS, Bryant has proven himself as a star pass rusher who towers over opposing linemen. He is explosive and quick to get upfield if he's chasing the quarterback, and can angle himself to where he can pursue defenders bouncing to the outside. However, Childrey can get downhill fast and lay a hit into a defender to help gain extra yards. That said, he's been just as likely to hurdle a would-be tackler this season as well. During last week's win against Lincoln County, Ray rushed for 124 yards and a touchdown. As EJHS's featured running back, Ray plays downhill and likes to run up the middle, where he has a bevy of hesitation moves and jump cuts ready to use to help him blow past defenders. He has a really strong lower body that helps him stay upright through arm and gang tackles. Ray can carry a pile, but also bounce the ball to the outside and beat the defense with his feet. He threw the first touchdown pass of his high school career in the fourth quarter of last week's 70-28 win over Franklin Simpson last week. It was a quick screen to a slot receiver who took it 53 yards to the house. If you've followed Shannon's rise through Kentucky Future Stars, Week 5 may have been the start of a long, successful career at the high school level. When he is on the field, the Class of 2030 prospect has made the most of his opportunities. This season, he's completed 12 of 18 passes for 169 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. This season, he's already shown flashes of his potential as a freshman prospect, and the more reps he gets at the varsity level, the better.
