Benjamin made seven total tackles (3 TFL) and one interception during a 17-7 win for his team over Arundel. One of the smallest players on the field lines up at one of the toughest positions on defense: middle linebacker. In the first two plays of his highlights, he’s in position to make lower-leg tackles at the second level in between the tackles. On the third play, he shows quick pursuit to tackle a receiver after a short catch, stopping his momentum. A couple of plays later, Benjamin shows great closing speed and surprising physicality on a tackle of a running back catching a swing pass. He runs through the ball carrier while making the tackle for a loss. The interception that he makes is a result of him defending his zone area, reading the quarterback’s eyes, and catching a poorly thrown pass by Arundel’s quarterback. The saying “heart over size” definitely applies to Mr. Benjamin.
