This is a class that will go down in the history books as one of the best in state history. We've updated our 2027 rankings to include the Top 200 prospects in the state. We have a ton of individual breakdowns dropping every day to spotlight some of those special prospects. In this breakdown, we're taking a look at the defensive line position and specifically the interior. These four DL prospects are absolute monsters in the middle of their defenses. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma for more 2027 individual breakdowns!

Interior defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1208264' first='Mason' last='McAlvain'] from Pryor is a force to be reckoned with in the middle of the Tigers' defense. Standing at 6'3" and 325 pounds, McAlvain brings a powerful presence to the interior and has the size to plug both A-gaps from his 0-technique position. He finished last season with 48 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and 5 sacks. What stands out about McAlvain is how well he moves for his size. He does a good job reading screens and staying disciplined when the offense tries to get the ball around him. He consistently changes the line of scrimmage with his strength and physicality and does a good job handling cut blocks without losing his position. McAlvain is the type of player I like anchoring the middle of a defense. His combination of size, movement skills, and physicality makes him difficult to block and allows him to create disruption from the interior. With another year of experience under his belt, McAlvain looks poised for a big senior season at Pryor.

Another defensive lineman we will take a look at is [player_tooltip player_id='933579' first='Kaiden' last='Ford'] from Fort Gibson. Standing at 6'0" and 300 pounds, Ford is a powerful interior defensive lineman who brings plenty of physicality to the trenches. He is currently committed to continue his football career at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. Fort Gibson runs an odd front, and Ford plays primarily as a 0-technique. His activity up front makes him a player opposing offenses have to account for, often requiring a double team to keep him from creating disruption. Ford has a quick get-off for his size and does a good job creating movement when the ball is snapped. What I really like about Ford is how physical he plays and how aggressively he attacks his technique. He does a good job getting pressure when the ball comes into his area and can create problems in the backfield from the interior. His combination of size, quickness, strength, and physicality makes him an important piece of the Fort Gibson defensive front and a player to watch heading into his next level of football.

Our first interior defensive lineman we will talk about is [player_tooltip player_id='1198491' first='Jayce' last='Watson'] from Choctaw. Watson is coming off an impressive season where he recorded 39 total tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and 14 sacks. After helping lead the Yellowjackets to the state championship game last season, Watson returns as a starter and will be counted on to anchor the defensive front. Watson brings versatility to the defensive line and has the ability to line up at defensive end while also possessing the size to move inside and create problems for offensive linemen. His ability to move well for his size makes him a difficult matchup, especially when combined with his quickness off the ball. I really like how Watson uses his hands at the point of contact to keep offensive linemen off his frame and work his way off blocks. His production and versatility give Choctaw a proven playmaker up front, and after making a run to the state championship last season, Watson will be an important piece as the Yellowjackets look to make another deep playoff run.

Another Carl Albert defensive lineman we will be taking a look at is [player_tooltip player_id='1637576' first='Joe' last='Thomas']. Thomas is a physical lineman who brings a combination of strength, athleticism, and technique to the front. He comes off the ball with good power and shows the ability to generate knockback at the point of attack. What I really like about Thomas is how well he moves for a defensive lineman. He does a good job getting underneath the tackle when working through a slant and is effective at creating movement up front. He is also a physical player who isn't afraid to attack pulling defenders and take on whatever comes his way. Thomas shows a good power-to-speed rush technique and does a nice job keeping the quarterback in the pocket when rushing the passer. He plays with good technique and understands how to stay disciplined while still applying pressure. His combination of movement skills, physicality, and technique makes him a defensive lineman to keep an eye on this season.
