After several losing seasons in a row, the Bulldogs made a run to the 6A-1 semifinals in 2024 and carried that momentum into a new season. They would look different offensively but they leaned on a stout defense and some new playmakers to maintain their winning ways. They started the season 3-0 and looked dominant in the process. They lost a heartbreaker to Norman North in overtime but won back to back games to be 5-1 heading into week seven. Losses to Broken Arrow and Owasso in the final four weeks dropped the Bulldogs from the top two spots in the district but they finished the regular season with a 7-3 record. In a first round rematch against Edmond North, they beat their rivals 20-0 after beating them 35-18 in the regular season. That set up a quarterfinal match-up on the road against Jenks. And that's where the season came to an end as the Bulldogs fell 60-28 and finished the year with an 8-4 record. Three of those losses came to three of the Tulsa-area powerhouses. But after years of losing records, early playoff exits or no playoffs at all, the Bulldogs are gaining steam as one of 6A-1's better teams. Now, they look to maintain that status as they turn the page and head into a new season. There's no doubt that the Bulldogs will be challenged but they have a team that can make plenty of noise.

2026 OUTLOOK

Edmond Memorial is once again a top ten team heading into this season but the next question for them is how do they become one of the top five teams in a class that is absolutely loaded. There will be no easy weeks in Class 6A-1 as there will be good competition on a weekly basis. On paper, this looks like an Edmond Memorial team that doesn't have much experience. But it's a good thing that the game isn't played on paper. Only three full time starters return on the offensive side of the ball for the Bulldogs. But they bring back plenty of players that got significant playing time a year ago. Defensively, it's a similar situation as they bring back two full time starters but it's the same story there. They also bring back quite a few players that have a ton of playing experience. And the biggest thing to watch is the influx of new talent that Edmond Memorial has heading into this season. And we mean this in three distinct ways. New names to the program that moved in. Names that aren't new to the program but will have an additional role. Or new names coming up that are part of a very special 2029 class. There will be a lot of “new” taking the field for Edmond Memorial but all of that new is very exciting talent. This team has the ability if they play up to their potential to have another winning season and find success in the playoffs. If they can grind their way through a brutal schedule, including three games in four weeks in October that will make or break their finish in the district standings, they will be in good shape.

KEY LOSSES TO GRADUATION

Bruce Roberts - Defensive Lineman (2025 All State 1st Team Selection)
Dawson Beaulieu - Quarterback (2025 All State Honorable Mention)
Nick Booker - Athlete (2025 All State 3rd Team Selection)

PLAYERS TO WATCH

There's no other way to put it, we have incredibly high expectations for 2027 wide receiver and cornerback [player_tooltip player_id='1014077' first='Cameron' last='Quarrels Jr.'] this season. Quarrels has been an absolute monster this offseason and every time we've watched him in person, he's been one of the best playmakers on the field. At this time last year, Quarrels was settling into his new home after moving into Oklahoma from out of state. He had a terrific junior season, emerging as a very versatile weapon for the Bulldogs on offense. This season, he's looking to be one of the top wide receivers in Class 6A-1 and then he's going to turn around and lock down other 6A-1 receivers at the cornerback position.

(2025 All State Honorable Mention)

2027 linebacker and Kansas State commit [player_tooltip player_id='216547' first='Colton' last='McComb'] has been one of the state's best linebackers for the last two seasons and now he looks to go on one last ride with the Bulldogs this fall. McComb broke out as a sophomore and has only gotten better from there. This season, he will be used as a major two-way threat for the Bulldogs. In addition to being one of the state's best linebackers, McComb will also be used on offense as a running back. He has plenty of experience on offense but there is no doubt that he is at his best on defense. He'll be tasked with helping out some of the young, but very talented up and coming players on this Bulldog defense.

(2025 All State 2nd Team Selection)

2029 running back [player_tooltip player_id='1658306' first='Ford' last='Boecking'] is the first of two major names to know in this sophomore class. And there's several more but Boecking is a running back that we think could have a pretty significant breakout season for the Bulldogs this fall. Edmond Memorial needs to replace an All State-caliber running back from last year and Boecking appears to be the guy. When we watched Boecking and the Bulldogs this spring, he really impressed us with his ability to fire out of the backfield. If the Bulldogs give him even the slightest hole on the line of scrimmage, he can accelerate through that in the blink of an eye. If you're looking for a breakout offensive player, Boecking is the guy.

2027 tight end [player_tooltip player_id='1748510' first='Jacob' last='Queen'] is the first of two major additions that Edmond Memorial got this offseason. Queen comes to the Bulldogs from Harrah and he instantly provides them with a massive target in the passing game. He's a 6'5 tight end that is not only going to be a major red zone threat for the Bulldogs, but he's big enough to be an extension of the offensive line and help out in the run-blocking game. Last season, Queen had over 250 yards and five touchdowns on just 15 receptions. He has the potential to have even more production this season. If he's scoring on every third reception, the Bulldogs are going to be a very high-scoring unit this fall.

Linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='2128291' first='Morgan' last='Lesch'] is another 2029 prospect you need to keep an eye on when the Bulldogs take the field this season. We mentioned earlier in the preview how Edmond Memorial's coaches were very high on their 2029 class and some of the names they have coming up in this group. Lesch is just one piece of that. He'll join McComb in the linebacker group and that's going to be a very fun 1-2 punch to watch this season. Lesch started to see his recruitment take off this offseason. While on the camp circuit in June, he earned his first offer from Baylor. He's just scratching the surface on what he's ultimately going to be for the Bulldogs.

2028 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='2134915' first='Talon' last='Wilkerson'] appears to be the guy at QB1 for the Bulldogs heading into this season. Watching Wilkerson this offseason on the 7v7 circuit and then seeing him in the spring, you could see steady improvement over the three months and now, as he gets ready for his junior season, Wilkerson has the ability to step into a role where he could provide some fireworks. Edmond Memorial is not lacking talent in the pass catcher department. Wilkerson is going to have weapons around him. Edmond Memorial's coaches are very impressed with his overall decision making, accuracy and his ability to fire absolute rockets all over the field.

2028 wide receiver and cornerback [player_tooltip player_id='451430' first='Tommalik' last='Benson'] is another new name to the Edmond Memorial roster. He moved up and joined the Bulldogs after playing for Westmoore. Benson first emerged on our radar following his freshman season. And in fact, the last two offseasons, with Westmoore and Edmond Memorial, Benson has been very fun to watch in person. Now, he's looking to take that next step and start shining on Friday nights in the fall. We're just saying right now, Benson is a 2028 prospect that has the potential to be one of the top cornerbacks in his class. He's also a playmaker on offense but he's definitely going to be a name to watch this season.

You look at the different players to watch and there's a lot of potential for the Edmond Memorial offense this season. But it's going to all start on the line of scrimmage and the Bulldogs aren't lacking talent there. 2027 offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='2252351' first='Trey' last='Stephens'] will look to set the tone at right tackle and he is a good looking prospect that could end up breaking out this fall. When we watched the Bulldogs this spring, the offensive line worked really well as a unit. If Stephens and this group continues that when the season kicks off, the Bulldogs could really do some damage on offense. As a 2027 prospect, Stephens is definitely a name to know in the state's OL group.

MORE NAMES TO KNOW

[player_tooltip player_id='2136187' first='Austin' last='Biggs'] - 2030 Running Back
[player_tooltip player_id='2104296' first='Boone' last='Thompson'] - 2028 Wide Receiver
Braden O'Connor - 2027 Offensive/Defenisve Lineman
Cole Rowland - 2029 Offensive Lineman
[player_tooltip player_id='1681520' first='Dante' last='Ussery'] - 2028 Wide Receiver
Deuce West - 2030 Defensive Back
Dom DiLandri - 2029 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back
Griffin Heinicke - 2028 Linebacker
[player_tooltip player_id='2134141' first='Hayden' last='Evans'] - 2029 Linebacker
[player_tooltip player_id='1828899' first='Jaylon' last='Andrews'] - 2028 Defensive Lineman
Kellen Evans - 2030 Quarterback
[player_tooltip player_id='1828620' first='Nash' last='Clemmons'] - 2028 Offensive/Defensive Lineman
[player_tooltip player_id='1851242' first='Parker' last='Files'] - 2029 Tight End/Defensive End
[player_tooltip player_id='2230312' first='Pierson' last='Allen'] - 2029 Offensive Lineman
[player_tooltip player_id='1833455' first='Sam' last='Hopkins'] - 2029 Wide Receiver
Sloan Maxwell - 2028 Defensive Lineman
[player_tooltip player_id='1833420' first='Terrence' last='Bruner'] - 2028 Defensive Lineman

2026 SCHEDULE

Aug. 28th - AT Piedmont
- The season opener is a unique match-up for Edmond Memorial as they head over to Piedmont to face the Wildcats for the first time in program history. Santa Fe will look different with a first year head coach.
Sept. 11th - AT Deer Creek
- Edmond Memorial goes back on the road to face Deer Creek in week two. While the Bulldogs are trying to become one of 6A-1's top contenders, Deer Creek is finding their place in 6A-1 after moving up a couple years ago. They've met in non-district play in each of the last four years and have split the series with two wins apiece.
Sept. 25th - Edmond North
- After a week off, Edmond Memorial kicks off their district slate with a rivalry game against Edmond North. The Bulldogs faced the Huskies twice in 2025 and won both meetings so this game will certainly be circled on their calendar. The Bulldogs have won three straight in the series as they look to start off district play with a big win.
Oct. 2nd - AT Broken Arrow
- As the calendar flips to October, the toughest part of Edmond Memorial's schedule begins. They travel east to face Broken Arrow in week five. The Tigers are a legitimate state championship contender heading into this season. Edmond Memorial lost 29-17 to Broken Arrow last year but beat the Tigers with ease in 2024.
Oct. 9th - Bixby
- Here's the ultimate measuring stick in Class 6A-1. Is Edmond Memorial a true contender? We'll find out when they host Bixby in week six. The Spartans have won four straight 6A-1 titles and eight straight state titles overall. This will be the first meeting in the regular season between these two teams. Bixby beat the Bulldogs in the 2024 semifinals.
Oct. 15th - AT Southmoore
- On a Fall Break Thursday night in week seven, Edmond Memorial heads south to square off with Southmoore. The Sabercats are back up in 6A-1 after spending the last two seasons in 6A-2. The last time these two squared off was in non-district play in 2022 and 2023. Edmond Memorial won both meetings by 20+ points. Southmoore will have a first year head coach.
Oct. 23rd - AT Mustang
- The Bulldogs go back on the road to face Mustang in week eight and this will be another match-up against a top five team in 6A-1. The Broncos are hungry to be the best from the west in 6A-1 this season. Edmond Memorial hasn't faced Mustang since they were district opponents in 2022 and 2023. The Broncos won both of those meetings.
Oct. 30th - Westmoore
- Edmond Memorial returns home to host Westmoore in week nine. These two teams have been district opponents for the majority of the time since the 6A split. The Bulldogs have had success recently against the Jaguars. They've won the last three meetings, including last year's 38-7 win. Prior to this three-game winning streak, Westmoore had won six straight.
Nov. 5th - Norman North
- The Bulldogs host Norman North on a Thursday night to wrap up the regular season in week ten. This game is certainly one that will be circled on Edmond Memorial's schedule. They lost an overtime heartbreaker to the Timberwolves last season. Norman North has had Edmond Memorial's number recently. They've won three of the last four.

NOTABLE

There is no doubt that Edmond Memorial is heading in the right direction and the Bulldogs are becoming that consistent winner in an absolutely stacked Class 6A-1. And 6A splitting into two divisions was a big reason behind the struggles. It's been a journey to get to this point. Prior to their run to the semifinals in 2024, they had ten straight years of non-winning season football. The majority of those ten seasons featured losing records. 2013 was the last time Edmond Memorial had a winning record and that came in the final season in a 32-team Class 6A. In 2014, the split began with 6A-1, the schedule got significantly harder and the Bulldogs would fight for the next decade. Edmond Memorial also made more history in 2025 with their second straight winning season for the first time since the Bulldogs had a winning record every year from 2008-2010. Edmond Memorial is certainly one of those programs that has the potential to be one of 6A-1's best. It's just taken them some time to get into the conversation but we believe they definitely belong in the conversation for the west side programs. Now, they look to continue to close the gap between the west side programs in 6A-1 and those Tulsa-area powers.

LAST FIVE SEASONS

2025 - 8-4 - Lost In Class 6A-1 Quarterfinals
2024 - 9-3 - Lost In Class 6A-1 Semifinals
2023 - 3-7 - Missed Playoffs
2022 - 4-7 - Lost In Class 6A-1 1st Round
2021 - 1-9 - Missed Playoffs

CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY

1 State Championship

(Won As Edmond High - Before Becoming Edmond Memorial)

1989 - Beat Booker T Washington 23-6
