Season Review - Weiss Wolves

After putting together a 10-3 season, Weiss heads into this year with a lot of momentum under head coach Malcolm Hill. The Wolves played some really good football on both sides of the ball, showed they could compete with anyone on their schedule, and made a strong playoff run. With plenty of firepower returning, let's take a look at the playmakers who will be leading the way on offense:    Jaxon put together a remarkable sophomore season, rewriting the Weiss record book with 3,627 passing yards and 51 touchdown passes while adding another 361 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground. He consistently made big plays with both his arm and his legs, showing the ability to extend drives and capitalize in the red zone. Coming off a historic year, Jaxon enters the season as one of the top quarterbacks in the state and will once again be the driving force behind an offense that expects to put up points every Friday night. He rushed for 638 yards and seven touchdowns on just 99 carries, averaging an impressive 6.4 yards per carry. I love the way Jayon runs he's patient behind his blockers, gets downhill in a hurry, and finishes runs with authority. Whether it was making plays with the ball in his hands or stepping up defensively, he found ways to impact the game. His ability to help in multiple phases gives Weiss another reliable playmaker who can be counted on whenever his number is called.     The Newcomer of the Year made an immediate impact, proving he is a true ball player every time he stepped on the field. With 74 receptions for 1,268 yards and 17 touchdowns, he quickly became one of the biggest weapons in the offense. Averaging 17.1 yards per catch, he showed the ability to make plays down the field, create separation, and come through when his team needed a big moment. His production speaks for itself, but the way he competes and finds ways to make an impact is what makes him stand out. The Washington commit has the ability to stretch defenses vertically and change the game with one play. His speed, ability to track the ball, and confidence attacking downfield make him a constant problem for opposing defenses. Averaging 15.0 yards per reception, he showed the ability to make big plays and consistently create opportunities for the offense. The work he's put in behind the scenes is showing up on the field, from his consistency in workouts to the way he has competed during spring reps. Audric was offered by UTSA, Oklahoma state, Syracuse, Bowling Green.     Eric brings a new presence to the middle of the offensive line after transferring from Pflugerville HS. As a center, he plays a key role in setting the tone up front, handling communication, and creating opportunities for the playmakers around him. His ability to anchor the line and bring toughness will help out the wolves out this season.     Shaw was a key piece up front for the Weiss offensive line, taking 690 snaps and consistently making his presence felt. He finished the season with 34 pancakes/throwdowns while allowing just one quarterback sack and being flagged only once. His consistency, toughness, and ability to win his matchups helped set the tone for an offense that put up big numbers. Starting all 10 games, he made his presence felt in the trenches with 20-plus pancake blocks while not allowing a single holding penalty. From the front line to the second level and the secondary, the Wolves have players who can make an impact and change the game. He finished the season with 70 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, and 15 quarterback hurries while also forcing two fumbles and recovering two more. His ability to consistently create pressure and make plays behind the line of scrimmage makes him a nightmare for opposing offenses. Smith has the skill set to be a game changer and will continue to cause pressure on the defense. He finished with 148 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, 17 quarterback hurries, and an incredible 9 forced fumbles while adding 5.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, and two defensive touchdowns. He also made plays in every phase with a blocked punt, pass breakup, and an interception. He has a nose for finding the football and consistently puts himself in position to make plays, whether it's stopping the run or creating disruption behind the line of scrimmage. His instincts, toughness, and ability to impact the game snap after snap make him one of the key pieces leading the charge for this Wolves defense. At linebacker, he has a natural ability to track down the ball carrier and consistently finish tackles. His skill set also allows him to make an impact in the nickel position, giving Weiss another defender who can move around and create problems for offenses. He had a standout season, finishing with 55 tackles, 31 solo tackles, 4 interceptions, 12 pass breakups, and 27 total passes defended. His ability to compete at the catch point, attack the football, and make plays in coverage separates him from others. Womack brings a confident, aggressive style of play that allows him to impact the game both in coverage and against the run.     Torey, c/o 2028 class, stepped up last season and did whatever he could to help this Weiss defense. His willingness to compete and contribute showed the type of player he is, and that effort has set him up for a bigger role moving forward.     Darby is a player who brings an edge to the defensive line and isn't afraid of the work that comes with playing in the trenches. I love how darby find his way towards the football. Expect darby to do the same this year.     Jarell made a big impact in the trenches last season, finishing with over 50 tackles while consistently finding ways to make plays for the Weiss defense. His ability to battle through contact, stay active around the football, and contribute against the run showed the type of presence he brings up front. With another offseason of development, Jarell is looking to build on that production. Jarell holds an offer from Texas Southern.    Weiss enters the 2026 season with high expectations after putting together a strong year on both sides of the ball. The Wolves have built a program that continues to compete at a high level, and this year's team brings back playmakers who can impact the game in every phase. With an explosive offense that can put points on the board and a defense loaded with talent and experience, Weiss has the pieces needed to make another deep run.
