Lake Show Mega Camp: OL Standouts and Strong Impressions

*Johnson30 grants you a 30% discount on a Prep Redzone subscription*   While the skill players were running around on the main field at the Lake Show Mega Camp in Oshkosh, WI there was a strong showing of offensive linemen who were also doing their thing on the adjacent field. The OL/DL portion of the Mega Camp was a padded affair and that quickly allowed the biggest and baddest dudes of the group step up and shine. The talent was strong and we should see dozens of offers rolling out for this group. Several made a strong impression on me while I scouted the group, so let's talk about who and how they did it.    I came away really impressed with my first live look at the massive OL out of Appleton North. The 6'6" 285 lbs 2027 has a fantastic frame. Long, strong, and really well filled out. He carries that 280+ lbs extremely well with very little excess weight on his frame. The power that the big man brings to the field is his bread and butter. Especially when he was able to flex it in the run game battles. Even with that massive frame Adam put together reps showing that he could get fire out and stay low, and then let his strong hands and leg drive overwhelm DL as he could drive them off the line of scrimmage. That power also flashed in his anchor when he was taking pass rush battles. The big man is a raw 2027, but his size and strength have me very excited for what he could be built into over the coming years at the next level. He brings a lot of things you can't teach to the field.     One of the top performers among the group of young OL was 2029 [player_tooltip player_id='2124865' first='Christian' last='Garcia'] out of Kenosha Bradford. The big man has really filled out his frame over this past year and did it in a manner that hasn't hurt his mobility on the field. Christian had several reps where he stayed locked on his man for extended periods of time; staying square on his man through counter moves thanks to some quick footwork. That mobility also allowed him to get deep in his pass set to cut off guys trying to get the edge on him. It was also great to see that he was already landing accurate punches to the chest plate of his opponent on a rep to rep basis. Things are really coming together for the incoming sophomore OL out of Kenosha Bradford. He will be an OL to watch in the Class of 2029.     I'm very excited for this OL. Waupun's 2028 OT [player_tooltip player_id='1718683' first='Adrian' last='Gschwind'] is one of the top tier talents at his position in the Class of 2028, and he let us see why during the Lake Show Mega Camp. The '28 has an outstanding combination of size, length, mobility, and power. It was impressive watching how fluidly he could move, slide, and change direction while also being completely ready to unload a powerful punch, set a strong anchor, and go on the attack in run game battles. Those run game battles truly let us see how those traits come together. Adrian is quick out of his stance, gets hands on, gets rid of space quickly, and then pounds those big feet in the ground as he would drive guys off the line of scrimmage. The Waupun standout turned that strong day into an invite to the Indiana camp from Coach Bostad. A great day for the rising 2028.     After taking in the day and looking back through my notes from the Lake Show, I believe Max might have ended the day as my MVP of the OL group. He looks the part of an OL ready to push his frame to the next level. Long limbs with a powerful frame that is ready to add muscle from a college lifting program. When the pads came on is when Hicks truly separated himself. Whether it was his quick feet and natural flexibility through bags or his dominance in 1 on 1s Max was standing out from the crowd. The strength he plays with is some of the best in the group too. Right from his initial contact you see that overwhelming power that got DL off balance instantly on several occasions. Once Max gets any bit of momentum going you can consider the rep won for the Appleton North OL. He is big, athletic, and violent, and it has made Maxwell one of the best available incoming senior OL among the uncommitted talent.     Another great overall performance came from West Salem OL [player_tooltip player_id='2103577' first='William' last='Clements']. The big man solidified the fact that he has the talent to play on the interior at the next level. When the pads came on the 2027 proved to be a powerful and violent blocker who not only won early in reps, but finished them too. Clements surprised me with how quick he could move while engaged with the DL. He could get depth or mirror any change of direction, all while doing a solid job of staying balanced. His stout anchor in pass pro also furthered my confidence for his future on the interior because he could set that anchor and instantly stand up DL without giving up ground. A trait needed to provide a secure pocket to step up into for his QB. Clements has been picking up steam this summer. Keep a close eye on him the rest of 2026.     A word that came to mind after a lot of Curtis' reps was "unfair". The 6'3" 285 lbs 2027 had one of, if not the best, frames in attendance. Big, and extremely filled out with violent power. That power is what shined rep after rep after rep. The board drills/run game battles were his best moments. That is where Curtis showed how quick he could fire out and get the proper hand placement. From there it was a wrap as he not only controlled with his hands, but bulldozed DL off the ball with his lower body strength. While showing that power the big man also had several reps where we got to see that he can be quick on his feet, especially while engaged. This is one of the big winners of the day among the OL. Definitely a top talent at the position in 2027 among uncommitted athletes.     An out of state OL who caught my eyes was Kingsford athlete Preston DeClark. The big man from Michigan made the trip and put on a show during the reps I was able to catch. The big man was a bully in all his reps. His run game and board drill reps were what caught our attention. Preston had DL running off the line of scrimmage with how quickly he could engage and overtake them. It seemed like the second he could lock his hands onto his man he would have full control. Rep after rep he flexed that ability to reset the line of scrimmage with his power. Definitely a kid to get on your radars     Joel is one of the biggest steals that the Class of 2027 has to offer here in WI for offensive linemen. Joel has the size of a future standout IOL. He also has the strength and nasty mentality needed to get him on the field at the next level sooner rather than later. At the Lake Show we got an exciting look at it. In board drills and run game battles the big man was an overwhelming force to the DL he faced. He always got hands inside, kept a wide base, and from there could churn his legs and have DL running backwards. Even in pass pro we saw that power on display as he would instantly absorb bull rushes and eliminate the DL power. That power plays on top of a reliable set of feet too that were able to move DL, and also keep himself square and in positions of power without getting caught reaching. Big things are ahead for the Greendale product.     A kid that is on the path towards his breakout season is 2028 Tim McKee of Middleton. Tim caught my attention right from the start when they put pads on. The '28 was a really nice looking athlete with plenty of room on his frame to continue to fill out. He also impressed me early on with some smooth feet and overall athleticism through bags. That athleticism carried over to his ability to cover ground when he went through pulling drills. If he can take that next step in the weight room and add to his frame and boost his strength then we could see Tim make the jump up to varsity this fall for Middleton. Don't sleep on him.     Being from MN, this was my first time getting to watch Louis work. It is clear what the scouts over there like about him to have him as a Top 20 OL. The big man brought a really well balanced and rounded skill set to the field. He showed that he has range and a closing burst to punish defenders in space. We saw him play with a strong anchor and with the reactive athleticism to stay square in front of his man in pass pro. Once the big man could get his hands clamped onto his opponent he was going to stay locked on and trust his feet to prevent any risk of holding calls. It was great to see Louis show all the different ways he could win by excelling in every drill they were put through. This should be an OL well worth having on radars over in MN.
