After a strong 2025 campaign, Pinecrest High School enters the new season with plenty to prove. The Patriots battled through one of the state's toughest leagues, finishing second in the highly competitive Mid-South 7A/8A Conference. Following a season-opening loss, Pinecrest rattled off eight consecutive victories and established itself as a legitimate contender before dropping its regular-season finale. Their season ultimately ended in heartbreaking fashion with a narrow first-round playoff defeat. Now, with several key offensive contributors returning and a talented group of players ready to step into expanded roles, the Patriots are focused on turning last year's success into an even deeper postseason run. Now with the starting job firmly in his hands, Knight is expected to see a significant increase in touches and production. His combination of vision, toughness, and playmaking ability gives the Patriots a reliable weapon in the backfield. As defenses focus on slowing down Pinecrest's passing attack, Knight could be the player who benefits most, positioning himself for a huge jump in numbers and a standout junior campaign.     Carter Jackson is another player poised for a larger role in Pinecrest's offense this season. His leadership, motor, and pass-rushing ability will be critical to Pinecrest's success this fall.     Tyler Johnson is a name to watch on Pinecrest's defense this season. The two-sport rising junior saw limited action last year but still made his presence felt, finishing with 30 tackles and five tackles for loss. Johnson plays with a high motor and competitive edge, consistently finding ways to impact the game when given opportunities. His toughness, athleticism, and willingness to do the dirty work make him a valuable piece of the Patriots' defense. With a larger role expected this fall, Johnson has the potential to take a significant step forward and emerge as one of Pinecrest's top defensive contributors.
