About Charlie
Expert Analysis
Matt Tate | Prep Redzone Scout
Hanna measures in at 6’2 230-pounds playing EDGE for Timnath. In the scrimmage, he had 6 total tackles with 1 QB pressure. Hanna has good athletic ability due to very good lateral quickness, acceleration, good speed, and balance. Good initial quickness out of his stance to create contact first. Good bend showing his ankle flexibility. Hanna has very good get off and block shedding skills paired with an explosive bull rush. Does a good job pushing the tackle back into the QB’s grill affecting the pass. Very good strength to make the tackle while getting blocked. He’s a strong tackler. One thing of note was his patience on the edge when against the read option. Wasn’t overzealous or biting and making the correct decision. Looking forward to Hanna showing out this season.

Hanna is a prospect who could become a major problem off the edge this season after showing significant development throughout the offseason. He has a quick get off that allows him to put offensive linemen on their heels and attack the backfield before plays have time to develop. Hanna can use a combination of strength and speed to work past opponents, giving him multiple ways to create pressure and disrupt the quarterback. His ability to consistently win at the point of attack will be something to watch as the season progresses. If Hanna can translate his offseason work into a high production season, he has the potential to become a must know name in the 2028 rankings.

Hanna is an edge defender whose film shows a player capable of making far more plays than raw measurements or testing numbers might suggest. His game is built on instincts, effort and an understanding of how to attack. He is consistently around the football and is being disruptive in multiple ways. Coming off the edge, Hanna shows impressive closing ability and routinely beats ball carriers to the corner. His pursuit angles are disciplined, allowing him to finish plays behind the line of scrimmage and limit opportunities for opposing offenses. He also demonstrates good strength, using his hands to shed blocks and pursue the ball. Hanna reads plays well and rarely takes himself out of position by overpursuing. As a pass rusher, he consistently generates pressure and forces quarterbacks to speed up their decision making process. Heading into the season, Hanna has an opportunity to establish himself as one of the more productive defensive playmakers in his class.
