Going into his senior season, Barrett was already viewed as a top receiver in this state but he took his stock to another level this Fall by putting up some huge numbers on both sides of the ball while helping lead his Spartans team to 10 wins on the year. Barrett can be an electric ball player that changes the momentum within a game at the drop of a dime due to his straight line speed and quickness in short spaces. The Spartans senior wideout has excellent feet along with a shifty lower base that gives problems to opposing defenders. Barrett’s skill set fits well in the intermediate game where he can take short passes and turn them into big gains He will need to continue adding more weight to sustain durability on the college level but the big play abilities are there to develop into a dangerous pass catcher at Vanderbilt.

He was lockdown on the outside at CB. Barrett displayed good instincts in coverage with quality ball skills to make an impact at the catch point.

Markeis Barrett Markeis Barrett 5'11" | 170 lbs | WR Knoxville West | 2024 State TN is a versatile play making wide receiver at 5-foot-11, 170 pounds out of Knoxville Webb High School and he plays bigger than his size. He is excellent at the catch point, going up to attack the ball at its highest point with nice body control and tracking. Good route running ability, Barrett runs routes with good pace from slow to instant acceleration to blow by defensive backs. After the catch, he shows good explosiveness with dynamic hips and a high step frequency. Overall, he displays great athleticism with change of direction ability and balance.

Recently committing to Wake Forest, Barrett is an athletic target that brings a lot of versatile traits to the football field that will work well within the Demons Deacons offensive system. Elusive and quick with the ability to make one cut and be gone, Barrett works very well in the slot where he can use his speed and active feet to work past defenders and get into the open field but this East Tennessee product is talented enough to work outside as well. This is a dynamic prospect that sports the athletic abilities and speed that can be utilized in a variety of ways on offense and possibly turn into an All-Conference talent during his time at Wake Forest.
