One of my guiltiest pleasures when ranking prospects for Prep Redzone New Jersey is picking-and-choosing to highlight prospects that I thought had outstanding film. As part of our class of 2027 player rankings update, I get to highlight those prospects who put on a show with their highlight reels. Below are a handful of prospects who have film that left an impression on me.

Be sure to follow me on Twitter for the latest New Jersey high school football prospect news and not miss a beat!

There might not be a prospect with a higher ceiling in New Jersey's class of 2027 than [player_tooltip player_id='2063463' first='Tristin' last='Fitzgerald']. Able to play both sides of the ball, for ranking purposes the Weequahic product is a defensive lineman. Blessed with tremendous size, he uses his length well to bench press opponents away from him, creating separation, in order to locate and pursue the ball. Along with that size, Fitzgerald has raw knock backability. While being a load to handle - mostly due to being an active player that keeps moving and working, keeping all of that coming full throttle, while not stopping - he played 3-tech and is athletic enough to play end as well. One thing that Fitzgerald did exceptionally well on film was getting under his opponents pads where, again, his raw strength was displayed as he established a new line of scrimmage. Hand usage is shown on film, especially the arm over, as he sheds blocks and matches the quarterback's arm.

A prospect that I thought put a very good product out on film was [player_tooltip player_id='1903805' first='Brayden' last='Picardo-Leask']. An in-line tight end, Picardo-Leask does a great job of driving his feet, really working and grinding to get movement - always with the aim of finishing his blocks. That said, Picardo-Leask is athletic and versatile enough to line up in Y-out sets, actually beating corners with his speed when split out as a receiver. Hand-usage is apparent when he runs out for routes.

Part of Fort Lee's breakthrough season had to do with the play of [player_tooltip player_id='1921830' first='CJ' last='Senatore']. A mike linebacker, Senatore wraps well and is capable of knocking someone on their rear when he has a running start. A forceful hitter, he is often sent on blitzes where, although I am unsure if it is by design or by ability, Senatore gets through untouched quite a bit. I appreciate how he appears coached in the old school manner: take a diagnose step, get hands on climbing offensive lineman to shed and pursue. Lastly, we see that he has true sideline speed, where it is tough for anyone to beat him to the edge. Senatore also served as a running back for the Bridgemen. At tailback we see him catch the ball with his hands, as he was frequently featured in the passing attack. With the ball in his hands he has balance up the sideline and was able to break arm tackles with ease.

The play of Cherry Hill East's [player_tooltip player_id='1552380' first='Dillon' last='Haddock'] is another prospect deserving of a look. A safety/over #2 linebacker type, Haddock shows a good deal of range when covering the hook/fat in pass coverage. At times, however, he will play in the box where he shows disciplined eyes as he reads his keys and can also key the quarterback with equal proficiency. As he does key the quarterback's leverage, Haddock will attempt to jump many routes by breaking on the ball. In man coverage we see him match the receiver's hands should he find himself trailing, while nearly always competing for the ball at its highest point.

New Jersey Class of 2027 Player Rankings Update

Official New.
