One of my guiltiest pleasures when ranking prospects for Prep Redzone New Jersey is picking-and-choosing to highlight prospects that I thought had outstanding film. As part of our class of 2027 player rankings update, I get to highlight those prospects who put on a show with their highlight reels. Below are a handful of prospects who have film that left an impression on me.

There was a renaissance in Bloomfield and a big part of it had to do with their play in the line - led by [player_tooltip player_id='1955331' first='Makai' last='Douglas']. Douglass typically plays on the edge and has the strength to power rush and walk someone back into their quarterback's lap; that said, he also has versatility to bump down inside in goal line situations. Gap control is a part of his game too, arm-overing into the adjacent gap. When over the ball Douglas has a devastating get off, swimming low hats in the process.

Another end, [player_tooltip player_id='2044388' first='Ajibola' last='Oshin'] is a prospect that uses his hands well when getting off the edge. When his hands are placed on the man in front of him, Oshin does a great job of training and separating, extending to create space, keep working, and shed to pursue the ball. What this 2027 graduate might do best is execute line stunts. Because of how well he gets off the ball and his quickness, he is able to penetrate gaps and disrupt blocking schemes well.

The only offensive lineman who made today's coverage, [player_tooltip player_id='2044374' first='Matthew' last='Donnelly']. As a guard, Donnelly is very good at double teams due to the fact that he keeps his feet moving through contact. As any guard should, he looks to finish his blocks. What really called me to his film was the fact that Donnelly is asked to pull quite often - and I do not blame them due to the mean streak he plays with, while also showing the ability to log defensive linemen when necessary.

The Plan in Plainfield

[player_tooltip player_id='1532329' first='Omar' last='McFarlane'] fits the mold of a more athletic defensive lineman than those who proceeded him on this list. What McFarlane does that separates him from most is that he finishes his tackles with feet that buzz and drive. Very quick with his movements, he retraces the pocket when quarterbacks step up in the pocket. McFarlane also does a good job of recognizing blocks, as he gets hands on down blocks and spills effectively, while also fighting reach blocks down the line. The last word on McFarlane is that he has productive, technically sound film
