8 2027's Coaches May Have Missed During Contact Period

We are through the first contact period of the year. Offers have been flying around left and right, but that doesn't mean there aren't guys still flying beneath the radar. Watch these 8 guys closely when coaches get on the road in the spring and when summer camp season rolls around.    Boyd, way up in Haralson County, surprisingly escaped the January contact period quietly. I have been tracking this kid closely for about a year now. He is a tall, well-developed player who is better in space than most receivers at his size. plays more of a gadget-type role and proves difficult to bring down in space. Looks like he sinks his weight well at the top of his routes. I think this kid will benefit from camp season.     Preston is a traitsy two-sport athlete who picked up some recruiting traction last month, but is still flying under the radar nationally. Preston is still a bit raw athletically, but his frame is well-developed, and he plays hard. He is obviously built like an FBS EDGE, and further athletic development will help take his game to the next level. Would continue to track this kid throughout the spring and headed into camp season.     Sorrells is an underrated player out of Northeast GA who started to receive some recruiting attention last month. Sorrells plays on both sides of the ball and doubles as a basketball athlete. Love the way this kid plays in space. Explosive, smooth mover who can weave all over the field. He runs hard, squeezing the most out of each opportunity with the ball in his hands. Lean, explosive player who projects out as a D1 receiver.     I've been on record as a huge fan of [player_tooltip player_id='1938763' first='Elijah' last='Scott']. Second-level speed is always a hot commodity, and Scott has plenty of that. He plays a lot of EDGE, but I think he will be best off the ball, where he has the freedom to run and chase. He closes space between him and the football quickly, and his length in coverage can cloud passing lanes. He holds FBS offers, and more are surely coming as the offseason keeps churning.     Kelly is an underrated, productive small-school receiver who has flown under the radar. I watched Kelly this past fall right in the middle of his breakout season, and a second watch still grasps my attention. He is on the smaller side, but this dude can move and tap into different gears while doing so. He is deceptive, loose, and bouncy, so separation can be created both before and after the catch. At the very least, FCS schools need to check in here.     Alexander picked up an offer from Georgia State in January, but I would watch this guy closely in the spring, because I really think there's a chance he breaks out. He is a tall, long, lean true safety prospect and is well-equipped to play that position at a high level. He is smooth, can flip his hips, but also pursues the ball well downhill. He is a strong tackler at the point of attack, and that will continue as he adds more mass. He can do just about everything you want out of a safety, at least as far as playmaking is concerned, and he does it on a frame with plenty of room to grow.     Wright is a big, underrated back out of Alabama who is still flying under the radar. His size is an instant eye-catcher, as he is an obvious candidate to get tough yards and move the pile. He is pretty well-rounded, however. He is a patient runner who flashed as a pass catcher, too. The size will grad your attention, but it's the well-rounded skillset that really sets the intrigue here.     Bercide is one of the most underrated 2027 DBs in Alabama, and he remains that way after the first contact period wave. Everything about this kid screams "P4 corner". He is a tall, cut corner with the length and size to be trusted around the catch point. His foot speed is fast, helping him match receviers and run with them at critical points of the route. Just an extremely underrated player who should tack on FBS recruiting buzz in the spring. I think this could will benefit a lot from camp season.
