Skyline has been playing excellent football for years and at times it feels like they do not get the recognition they deserve. Over in Front Royal, Virginia Coach Gilbert's squad has really been cooking something special these past couple of seasons. Last fall the Hawks advanced all the way to the Class 3 State Semi-Finals and our poised for a deep playoff run next year. I was happy to see Skyline bring a quartet of players including future FBS running back [player_tooltip player_id='1337962' first='Zayden' last='Burks'], speedy defensive back CJ Baltimore, future all region player [player_tooltip player_id='1664377' first='Brady' last='Lupton'] and unheralded offensive linemen [player_tooltip player_id='1801661' first='Ryan' last='Held']. Each prospect made one of our top performers selection, a breakdown of how each of them did below:

Really impressed the way [player_tooltip player_id='1664377' first='Brady' last='Lupton'] tested he moves very well for a big/physical tight end. In particular his shuttle time shows me that he will be an all region performer next fall. Lupton was in a tough spot on Saturday as we did not have many tight ends so he was lumped in with a deep receiver room. He still made the most of it and had some good reps during the 1vs1 portion. He is bound to have a bigger role for Skyline this season, the Hawks will need more threats on offense with Marquese Lockhart graduation.

A kid set to break out entering his junior season for the Hawks is defensive back CJ Baltimore. The young man test numbers are impressive, running a 4.6 40 and a broad jump over 8 foot. Very good lateral movement and footwork out of Baltimore, he was close to being a top performer. Regardless he is a physical corner who would not back down from any matchup. We for sure will be adding him to our next 2028 class rankings update.

I am for sure aware of rising senior lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1801661' first='Ryan' last='Held'] way more than I was before the showcase. Held had an excellent showing and he caught the attention of my colleague Pat Weider who was working with the linemen all day. Making our all camp second team particularly for his work during the 1vs1, [player_tooltip player_id='1801661' first='Ryan' last='Held'] caught a lot of coaches attention.

Not much else more needs to said about Zayden 2k, but he passed the eye test to all the coaches and scouts on site Saturday. He will be an FBS level running back in two years, with schools such as Maryland, Old Dominion and Liberty showing interest. Burks was getting open against the linebackers and corners during the individual work, by the end nobody wanted to cover him. He is so smooth out of the backfield and you could see it on every rep he took with the RB group. Obviously earning a top performer and mvp spot, [player_tooltip player_id='1337962' first='Zayden' last='Burks'] ascension continues to evolve.
