Expert Analysis
Jordan Reyes | Prep Redzone Scout
Blackwell is a gifted athlete with a wide skillset and natural playmaking ability. 5’10” 160 lbs. he shows great instincts and fluid movement skills at both WR and DB. Really flashed at DB during his freshman season and so far at off season camps/showcases, was the overall MVP of the National Preps Showcase and also performed well at the Rivals Camp. Good blend of short area quickness and long speed to cover a wide route tree. He stays in phase with great transitional speed and by matching movement to stay attached throughout the play. Like his reactionary quickness and ability to plant and drive on the ball. His breaks are decisive and he’s able to accelerate out to close space. Carries offers from Sacramento State and Southern University and will continue to see his recruiting stock on the rise if he maintains this trajectory.

Blackwell had by far the most impressive performance in the afternoon session and was highly competitive on both sides of the ball during the 1 on 1 segment of camp. He is a twitchy and explosive receiver with real downfield speed and seperation abilities, strong hands when making contested catches and showed he can run precise routes and get open underneath or over the top. Defensively, he had outstanding instincts, breaks quickly to the ball and outstanding ball skills/fluid hips in transition with plenty of recovery speed. Only a freshman, he is going to be a up and coming key name to note across the 2029 class and should burst onto the scene as a sophomore for Grant.
