Salina junior wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='807020' first='Cooper' last='Hooker'] was definitely on the shortlist for this award coming into the season. Hooker is one of the shiftiest wide receivers in the state, regardless of class and it was only a matter of time before he torched defenses when he got back on the field with a clean bill of health.

In 2024, Hooker had his sophomore season hit a wall in week one. He broke his fibula but he was able to make it back on the field in 2024 after working his tail off to recover. However, he was still very limited during that sophomore season, finishing the year with 36 catches for 374 yards and four touchdowns.

In 2025, Hooker was healthy and that was clear when you saw his production. He had 50 catches for 850 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also had four touchdowns as a kick returner and scored two touchdowns as a runner. Overall, Hooker accounted for nearly 1,800 yards and 22 touchdowns. We've watched Hooker in countless 7v7 tournaments over the last several years. In our opinion, he's one of the best wide receivers in the state's 2027 class. Hooker has earned the attention of D1 programs, picking up a handful of offers over the last six months.

We think that it's safe to say that the more his junior season film makes the rounds this month and next, he'll have more schools interested in him as he goes into the spring and summer months. Hooker helped lead Salina to the 2A-2 quarterfinals, where they lost a tough one to perennial powerhouse Davis.

We got a chance to watch Hooker in person twice this season. The first time coming in the district opener against Adair and the second coming in that quarterfinal game against Davis. We have his highlights from those games below.
