Week five is here and at the end of this week, we'll officially be at the halfway mark of the 2026 regular season. Every Monday, we kick the week off with looking at the ten best games across the state with a breakdown on each! And because we can't follow our own rules, we might have a few more games to look out for each week. This week is another example of that. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma every day for new content dropping on the site!

This is the first of four different games in Class 5A that you should know about this week. Eight of the top ten teams in this class are going head to head this week, including this match-up that sees #4 Coweta hosting #8 Bishop Kelley. The Tigers have played a gauntlet schedule to start district play, beating Del City at home by a couple points before surviving and blocking a potential game-winning field goal on the road against McAlester last week. Nevertheless, the Tigers are undefeated on the season and they'll see a Bishop Kelley squad that is 4-1 but more importantly, they are 2-0 in district play. The winner here takes sole possession of first place in the district. Coweta has been through the battles but do they still have plenty of gas in the tank for another potential fight Friday? For Bishop Kelley, they rallied from a 16-point halftime deficit to beat Sapulpa last week and are gaining more and more momentum.

This might be the game of the week in a Class 5A slate that is absolutely loaded this week. #2 Bishop McGuinness heads east once again to square off with #6 Pryor. Just like the Bishop Kelley-Coweta match-up, the winner of this game will be in sole possession of first place in the district. Both teams are coming off come from behind wins last week where they flipped the switch in the second half. Bishop McGuinness trailed Claremore 17-14 but would run away with a 51-17 win after taking advantage of costly Claremore turnovers. Pryor found themselves down 42-28 to Tahlequah at halftime but the defense would step up after halftime and the offense, mainly the running game turned it on and they won 59-48. Now, these two explosive offenses will go head to head and this is one of several games that we'll be covering in person on Friday night. We're expecting plenty of fireworks in this marquee 5A clash.

BOOKER T WASHINGTON (3-2) AT MUSKOGEE (3-2)

In Class 6A-2, they'll finally open up district play in the east side district this week. And we'll see a couple marquee match-ups, starting here as #5 Booker T Washington goes on the road to face #6 Muskogee. Both teams come into this week after experiencing very different first halves of the season but with identical records. Muskogee started 3-0 but were pushed very week and have lost their last two games against top four opponents in 6A-2. But none of that matters as the Roughers begin district play and look to make some noise in this class. On the other side, you have a Booker T Washington squad that has had an up and down start against a difficult schedule. They tripped up last week against Union, snapping a two-game winning streak. But just like Muskogee, the Hornets are coming into this week looking to start fresh and get a win that will set them up for success during the rest of the regular season.

CASCIA HALL (5-0) AT CHISHOLM (4-1)

#3 Cascia Hall goes out west to take on #9 Chisholm on Friday night and this match-up wasn't on our radar a few weeks ago but certainly is now. For Cascia Hall, they've looked great so far this season. They're undefeated and they'll be looking to avoid Friday becoming a trap game as they have a showdown with #4 Kiefer coming next week. The Commandos have certainly looked like a team that could end up contending for the gold ball but this is a game that you win on your way there. On the other side, Chisholm is a team that is getting better and better every week. They suffered a week one loss to Fairview but have been dominant in their other four games. This match-up also features two very intriguing freshmen to watch moving forward. We're doing a ton of 2030 breakdowns next week and both of these freshmen will be featured as names to watch going into the future and that starts on Friday night.

On paper, this game looks like it will decide the district championship in the west side district of 6A-2. It would be pretty surprising if the winner Friday didn't go on to capture the district title. #2 Choctaw goes on the road to face #4 Piedmont and all signs point to this being a game that will decide much more than just district seeding. Both teams come into this game somewhat mirror images of one another from a scheduling perspective. Both teams suffered some early season losses against good 6A-1 teams. But both teams have turned things around in the last few weeks and have looked like the top five teams that we've thought they could be since this summer. Choctaw has rolled to four straight wins and have looked better and better with each passing week. Piedmont also got a big win on the road against Muskogee last week and like Choctaw, they're playing with a lot of confidence and momentum.

With district play starting last week, we're starting to see more top ten teams go head to head in Class 6A-1 and here's the first of several this week. #6 Mustang will host #10 Edmond North in a game that neither team can afford to lose or they'll have a ton of work to do moving forward to climb back up the district standings. The Huskies will go into this game with their backs against the wall after dropping a close game to Norman North last week. They'll lean on an offense that has been able to light up the scoreboard, even in last week's tough loss to the Timberwolves. Both teams feature two of the better senior quarterbacks in Class 6A-1 so the Broncos will also rely on their offense in this one. Both teams are 3-2 on the season, both teams are 1-1 in district play. There is no doubt that this will be an important game on the schedule to decide playoff seeding down the line. It could be the difference in a home or away game in the first round.

Just how serious is Moore is a major 6A-1 question right now as the Lions are enjoying their first 5-0 start in several decades. We're going to get our first answer on Friday night as they head to the Tulsa area to square off with #4 Owasso. The Rams are 2-3 on the season but it would be unwise to judge them on the record alone. Those three losses were to the top three teams in 6A-1 with two of those coming on the road. Needless to say, the Rams are one of the more battle-tested in Class 6A-1 as we turn the page and head into the second half of the regular season. For Moore, the Lions have put together a solid list of wins, including last week's comeback win over Deer Creek. But there is no doubt that they will be tested on Friday night in a way that we haven't seen so far this season. In Class 6A-1, there has been a gap between the east and west side teams. But west side teams always find a way to surprise us.

This game is right there with the McGuinness-Pryor contest for "game of the week" honors in Class 5A. #3 Elgin will host #7 Newcastle in a game that will all but certainly decide the district champion in this district. Elgin comes into this game undefeated on the season as their senior class has never lost a game in the regular season. The Owls have been dominant so far this season, including in a 4A championship rematch against Tuttle. Now, they'll look to take down a Newcastle team that they've seen the last few seasons in non-district play. On the other side, Newcastle is 4-2 on the season with four straight wins after losing to defending champions Carl Albert and Tuttle in the first two games. Those difficult tests in the first two weeks should prepare Newcastle for what they are going to see on Friday night. This is another 5A game that we will be covering in person as both teams look to contend for much more than the district title.

SAND SPRINGS (1-3) AT BARTLESVILLE (3-2)

It's another 6A-2 clash featuring two top eight teams as the east side district in this class will finally start squaring off against one another. Defending state champion Sand Springs finally returns to the field after back to back bye weeks. The Sandites faced a very tough non-district schedule and come into this week with a 1-3 record with all three losses coming to ranked 6A-1 opponents. Judging them on their record would be a massive mistake. That's one reason why we haven't dropped them from the number three spot in the 6A-2 rankings. Sand Springs is still a serious state title contender and have had two weeks off to heal up. On the other side, Bartlesville has already shown a ton of improvement under first year head coach Matt Hennesy. And they'll be looking to bounce back after losing a high-scoring affair to 6A-1's #5 Yukon last week. Don't be surprised if we end up seeing another exciting back and forth game here.

In another game that we'll be covering Friday night, we'll see #6 Checotah hosting #5 Tahlequah Sequoyah in a major 2A-1 clash. Checotah will return to the field looking to maintain their undefeated record. They have scored at least 50 points in all of their games that have been played so far this season. Last week's game against Spiro turned out to be a forfeit on Spiro's end. The Wildcats have been led by one of the more productive dual-threat quarterbacks in the state and show no signs of slowing down. The Wildcats still have their destiny in their hands. Tahlequah Sequoyah can get back in the district title hunt with a win on Friday night after falling to Lincoln Christian two weeks ago. They bounced back last week with a 59-point win over Roland. Granted, the Indians would need some help from Checotah down the line but this is a match-up featuring two teams in Class 2A-1 that could end up going on deep runs in the postseason.

It's another 6A-1 clash to keep an eye on as #3 Jenks goes on the road (once again) and faces #9 Deer Creek on Friday night. The Trojans finally had their first home game of the season last week and made the most of it, beating Owasso 20-17. On the other side of the match-up, Deer Creek is coming off a tough loss to Moore where they let a fourth quarter lead slip away. The Antlers are close to having their backs against the wall in district play at 0-2 and Jenks is looking to remain unbeaten in district play.

It's the marquee game in Class 3A and this shouldn't be a surprise at this point but it features two teams from district 1. We've talked and written about this district quite a bit and it continues to be an absolute gauntlet. #8 Plainview hosts #9 Kingfisher and the Indians are looking to bounce back from last week's tough loss on the road to Mount St. Mary. For Kingfisher, the Yellowjackets have been perfect so far this season and have put together some very impressive wins. But their schedule is about to heat up as they face three teams (including this week) that are ranked in the top eight in the next four games.

McALESTER (2-3) AT SAPULPA (3-2)

The fourth Class 5A clash that features two ranked teams takes place here as #9 Sapulpa hosts #10 McAlester and this is crazy to think but there's a chance that this game ends up being an elimination game. Both teams are 1-1 in district play but still have games against higher ranked opponents on the schedule. Both are also coming off tough losses last week. McAlester let one slip away at home against Coweta and Sapulpa had a 16-point halftime advantage go against Bishop Kelley. Neither team can afford another district loss with how competitive this district is and the loser here could be sitting at home for the playoffs.

STILWELL (5-0) AT SALLISAW (5-0)

Two undefeated teams squaring off in Class 4A is certainly going to be on our radar as we go into week six. #3 Sallisaw hosts #10 Stilwell as the Indians jumped into the top ten rankings this week with a perfect 5-0 record. But just how serious is Stilwell in the Class 4A mix? We're going to find out as they go on the road and take on an undefeated Sallisaw squad. There is no doubt that Stilwell is improved and could contend for one of the four playoff spots. But Sallisaw has been lights out so far this season, including getting a win over Broken Bow and knocking them from the top spot in Class 4A.

It's the game of the week in Class A-2 as #5 Konawa hosts #9 Wewoka in another game that could decide the district title. Both teams have gotten off to different starts this season but are finding their groove as this showdown looms. For Konawa, they're undefeated on the season and have absolutely dominated their way to a 5-0 record. Wewoka started the season 1-2 with losses to 2A-2's top-ranked Holdenville and A-1's #5 Wynnewood. But they have back to back impressive wins over Ringling and Wayne and now have their sights set on taking down Konawa in a major A-2 match-up.
