Indiana Stock Up Showcase: Veteran Receivers Who Thrived

The Stock Up Showcase brought in a ton of pass catchers with talent and these are some of the recruits who have Varsity experience that stood out on Sunday.    Noble continues to develop and make plays down the field. He's got good hands and can make all the catches. He's reliable in tight spaces and can make catches through traffic. His routes are fairly clean and can sell his stem while creating space at the top of his route. He's able to play physical and has the size and weight to brush off lighter DBs. He's stronger than DBs anticipate, which helps him break free from them. This was the first time I saw him work in person and came away impressed.     Darden has elite speed and can change the game in a flash. He ran the single fastest 40-yard dash of the event at a lasered 4.58 time. He's got quick feet and gets to top speed in just a few steps. He'll blow right by the DB in front of him and eliminate the cushion in just a few steps. He's then got good eyes and can track the ball down the field. He won't be caught once he catches the ball in stride and can house it at any given moment.     Smith was one of the older receivers there, and his experience paid off. He was as consistent as any receiver there all day. He was confident in his ability and got into a groove early. He's got soft hands and looks the ball all the way in. He tracks the ball well when downfield and knows how to high-point the ball. He can then be slippery in space and create yardage with the ball in his hands.     Pugh had a good day and was fairly patient with his quarterbacks. I say that because it felt like 5 reps in a row; he got a ball in the dirt from different quarterbacks. I had him switch sides of the field, and he started to get catchable balls. He's got soft hands, always uses both hands to bring it in, and is laser-focused on the ball in the air. He had no issue going over the middle and playing the middle of the field. He's a decent athlete and has a good understanding of how to settle in zone coverage.     Bailey is a big body possession receiver who understands how to use his frame to his advantage. He's got long arms and can go up and over just about any defender for a contested catch. For a guy his size, he had no issue getting open at the top of his routes. He doesn't need much space, either. I felt like it was pretty obvious he's a hard worker and doesn't seek attention; he just wants to play football.
