Ty Higgins Ty Higgins 5'9" | 140 lbs | QB/DB Spirit Lake | 2028 IA had huge shoes to fill taking over Caden Lundt as the starting QB for Spirit Lake, and while the team to an expected step back, Higgins also flashed strong potential as a dual-threat. Higgins threw for 985 yards, 8 TDs, and 5 INTs while adding a team-high 660 rushing yards (6.1 YPC) and 8 rushing TDs. While his performance didn’t bring immediate results for the Indians, it gave him valuable experience under Center. Flashing as a speedy athlete, evident by his impressive 4.57 40 yard time, Higgins was dangerous outside of the pocket, and had the potential to break away for a huge run every time he tucked the ball. A southpaw QB, Higgins showed solid accuracy on the run and despite his size showed some impressive arm strength on his tape with his deep throws. As Higgins continues to develop his passing mechanics, he could become a force to be reckoned with, and could easily guide Spirit Lake back into contention.

On film, he is a dangerous dual-threat QB who is not afraid to tuck it and run when he needs to. Higgins gained a ton of experience this past year against very good teams, which will bode well for his future development.

Higgins produced impactful performances on both sides of the ball during the 2025 campaign. He certainly could develop as a quarterback prospect, but his speed and athleticism leave open the door for other positions being possible on the next level. Higgins completed 60.7 percent of his throwing attempts for 985 yards and eight touchdowns with five interceptions. He rushed for 660 yards (6.1 YPC) and eight scores, and caught a pair of passes for 40 yards and a TD. On defense, Higgins collected 31.0 tackles (25 solo, 1.0 TFL) and a fumble recovery. When watching Higgins’ sophomore highlight video, we witness what the statistics indicate – a dual-threat signal caller with playmaking ability. He’s a handful on designed runs thanks to speed, quickness and elusiveness. The lefty also flashes a strong arm with a quick release. If colleges don’t see him behind center, his athleticism and feel for the game would work in the secondary and on special teams.
