Dorman had not played since September 3 and even with that time off, still were not healthy for a top-10 battle with Ridge View Friday night. It did not matter to running back Demarius Foster. The junior was the only healthy back in uniform and he made every carry count.
Foster ran for 269 yards and five touchdowns on 29 carries to lead the Cavaliers to a dominating 42-20 victory over the Blazers. The Cavaliers finished with 417 yards of total offense and Foster accounted for 305 of those yards as he added two catches for an additional 36 yards.
Foster scored on runs of 12, 49, 4, 1, and 44 yards. Kendall Norman added the other Cavaliers touchdown.
“I probably ran (Foster) too much because he was the only one here,” Dorman coach Dave Gutshall said. “He’s really a tough guy that makes people miss in the hole. We are not surprised by what he did. It was probably not a smart decision to let him carry it that many times.”
But Foster was not the only standout. Highly touted offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="91355" first="Markee" last="Anderson"] moved from is natural tackle position into an H-back roll and never missed a beat. Anderson was instrumental in a lot of Foster’s yards. [player_tooltip player_id="89299" first="Hudson" last="Lee"], a defensive end that is committed to Wake Forest as a pitcher in baseball, finished with four tackles and two pass breakups. Linebacker Jonathan Frazier led the defensive effort with eight tackles and two pass breakups as well.
Hudson Talley was 7-of-10 passing for 95 yards as the Cavaliers (2-2) focused the on the running game most of the night.
OTHER STANDOUTS
Even though Ridge View (2-2) lost by 22 points, several players had excellent games. [player_tooltip player_id="153263" first="Andre" last="Washington"] threw for three touchdowns and 176 yards. [player_tooltip player_id="202775" first="Zion" last="Agnew"] (4 catches, 70 yards) and [player_tooltip player_id="92205" first="Chase" last="Smith"] (3 catches, 19 yards) each scored a touchdown.
The Blazers were impressive across the line of scrimmage. Tim Speaks and [player_tooltip player_id="153246" first="Tray" last="Franklin"] more than held their own. Speaks also showed a lot of versatility. Speaks started at right tackle but moved to center after an injured took the starting center out. Speaks, who is 6-2, 330-pounds, also handled the punting and kick-off duties.
Ja’ali Golden led the defensive effort with 11 tackles.
