The road back to the state championship wasn't easy for the Sandy Creek Cougars, but after the dust settled, they were able to call themselves back-to-back champions of Class D1. Sandy Creek showed off their offensive firepower while also flexing their defensive muscle, leading to a decisive 66-26 victory over an explosive Crofton squad.

There were several standout performers in this game, but I wanted to highlight a few who really caught my eye. Here are five Sandy Creek Cougars who should be on your recruiting board.

[player_tooltip player_id='1590722' first='Kamerin' last='Sealey'], 2028 - QB/ATH - 6'0" 175 lbs - (@Kamerinallan09) - (Game MVP)

Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1590722' first='Kamerin' last='Sealey'] had about as big a coming-out party as you can have on the state's biggest stage. The Cougars' QB completed 17 of 24 passes for 272 yards, four touchdowns, and a QBR of 221. He also tore it up on the ground with 23 carries for 203 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. On top of all that offensive production, Kamerin also recorded an interception on defense, which turned out to be a bit of a "turning point" in the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1085910' first='Wes' last='Biltoft'], 2027 - DL/TE - 6'6" 210 lbs

The top offensive producer behind Kamerin was junior TE [player_tooltip player_id='1085910' first='Wes' last='Biltoft']. Biltoft ended the day with three receptions for 119 receiving yards and two touchdowns, the biggest being his 57-yard touchdown reception. Standing at 6'6", Wes is an instant mismatch nearly every time he lines up and he knows how to take advantage of it too. Wes's massive wingspan gives him a huge catch radius for QBs to work with, and he showed today that he can make the adjustments needed to get under the ball for the reception. He also impressed with his ability to get vertical, using his long strides to build speed quickly and slip past defenders. Strong hands, good concentration, and toughness through contact make for a reliable target.

[player_tooltip player_id='2065256' first='Logan' last='Tomky'], 2027 - WR - 6'3" 185 lbs - (@LoganTomky27)

The Cougars had a pair of receivers break the 100-yard mark, including junior wideout [player_tooltip player_id='2065256' first='Logan' last='Tomky']. Tomky hauled in three receptions for 100 yards and a receiving touchdown, featuring a 44-yard touchdown catch. Tomky is another tall receiver who does a great job elevating to attack the ball at the catch point. He has a great burst coming off the ball and is quick to get vertical and chew up some of the cushion given by the DBs.

[player_tooltip player_id='2065257' first='Josh' last='Spray'], 2027 - OL/DL - 5'11" 215 lbs

Even though the skill guys will make the headlines, a huge contributor to the game's outcome was the super-physical offensive and defensive line play. One player along the OL/DL who really stood out was junior [player_tooltip player_id='2065257' first='Josh' last='Spray'], who executed several clean and technically sound blocks to help set up the run game. Spray also impressed with his athleticism as he flashed good lateral quickness and burst to help him move up to the second level or perform a pulling block. He is constantly looking to finish blocks on the ground or will look for more work downfield when he's already taken out an opponent. Spray recorded four total tackles on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='2065264' first='Sam' last='Watts'], 2028 - OL - 6'0" 220 lbs - (@samueljwatts09)

Another lineman who stood out was sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='2065264' first='Sam' last='Watts'], who should be a key blocker for the next few seasons. The part of Sam's game that really stands out is his ability to play the position with the physicality and mean streak needed to move defenders at will. He does a great job getting off the ball and being the first to make contact at the point of attack. Once he's engaged with defenders, Sam can use his powerful base to drive them off the ball and seal off running lanes. Good use of leverage. Looking forward to seeing more tape from Sam's sophomore season.
