The football season is moving along with players putting up impressive performances each week across the state. The games are becoming more tightly contested each week. The players listed are the stats leaders for the Class of 2022 after Week 5:

Wesley runs precision pass routes and separates from the defender quickly to make the catch. He displays the ability to elude the initial defender and accelerate past defenders in the open field, scoring often. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="141361" first="Levi" last="Andrews"], DL, 6’4" 250, Avery County HS</strong>. Levi displays good technique and uses his hands well to control the blocker to stop the play. He displays good upper body strength and quickness to move past blockers to make tackles for losses. <strong>Julian Mercer, DL, 5’11" 195, Metrolina Christian Academy</strong>. Julian displays good technique and footwork while controlling blockers to stop the play. He runs well in open space to close in on the ball carrier quickly. Julian Mercer leads the class with 9 sacks.
<strong>Olajawaun Person, DB, 6’2" 175, North Moore HS</strong>. Olajawaun reads the play and displays good lateral movement while closing on the wide receiver to disrupt the pass, intercepting often. He displays good technique while making open field tackles. Olajawaun Person leads the class with 5 interceptions.
