Here’s a look at five players in the Greenville/Pickens/Anderson area who turned in performances worth of Prep Redzone game balls in their Week 1 contests.
[player_tooltip player_id="102962" first="Prometheus" last="Franklin II"] brought the fire for Greenville. The senior QB completed 12 of 15 passes, throwing for 248 yards and tossing five touchdowns to four different receivers as the Red Raiders blasted Wade Hampton 70-7.
[player_tooltip player_id="153264" first="Trent" last="Pearman"] helped Daniel overcome a 14-7 deficit late in the first half as the Lions roared to a 54-21 win. Pearman threw for 276 yards on 29-of-36 passing, tossing five touchdowns.
[player_tooltip player_id="59476" first="Randy" last="Caldwell"] helped Mauldin lock down Spartanburg in a 14-9 win for the Mavericks, but his biggest impact came on the offensive side of the ball. Caldwell had a 44-yard catch-and-run TD to give Mauldin a 7-3 lead in the third quarter, and his 29-yard reception helped set up another score for the Mavericks.
[player_tooltip player_id="91152" first="Thomas" last="Williams"] had a huge night in Powdersville’s 34-19 win over Belton-Honea Path. Williams finished with 15 carries for 191 yards and 3 touchdowns, including a 61-yard romp that broke the game open in the third quarter.
[player_tooltip player_id="91225" first="Kamren" last="Johnson"] did a lot of the dirty work in T.L. Hanna’s gritty 27-16 victory over Wren. Johnson didn’t find the end zone, but his 10 carries for 77 yards helped keep the Yellow Jackets’ run-heavy offense rolling.
