About Brody

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Brody Maehl, offensive tackle from the Class of ’28, stands out with his imposing 6’5.5” athletic frame. My footwork, mobility, and agility on the field show an impressive future in this sport. I know my role, block, protect, and impose my will on the opponent—with fierce competitiveness and upmost respect.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I try to bring energy and positivity wherever I go—whether it’s cracking jokes in the locker room or greeting classmates with a smile in the hallways. Known for my fun-loving spirit and natural charisma, I strive to be a student-athlete who leads by example. From test time in the classroom to crunch time on the field, my goal is to step up with both action and voice, driving success for all.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

FDSH, Sophomore Class President, 2028 Member, FDSH Student Athletic Advisory Committee

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I follow a proud family tradition of leadership, excelling in academics, athletics, faith, and community service. Inspired by my active siblings, I have become a standout role model both in and out of school. Driven by the belief that leadership is best shown through action, I spend time coaching and refereeing youth sports, operating screens at church services, and volunteering at local camps.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Challenges come in all forms. From the outside, my life might seem picture-perfect, but losing my grandpa was a heartbreak that changed everything. Cancer took him from us, and yeah… cancer sucks. But what it couldn’t take was the legacy he left behind: a deep love for Christ, a passion for farming, and a devotion to family. Those values weren’t just his, but now mine daily.

What type of college are you looking for?

For families like mine, scholarships aren’t just helpful; they’re life-changing, opening doors to college & easing the financial burden. My ultimate goal is to play college football in a winning environment—one where the community rallies behind the team & I can fully apply all my strengths. I’m driven to contribute, grow, and thrive in a program that values grit, leadership, and heart.

Maehl does not look like a sophomore in either stature or style of play. We can witness that when watching highlights from his first three games of 2025. Lining up at left tackle as a 10th-grader, Maehl moves well and is agile, allowing him to operate effectively in space. He appears to understand angles and uses that knowledge to his advantage. Maehl sets up well in pass protection, with a balanced stance and smooth footwork. Projection remains for Maehl with a frame capable of adding good weight and strength. There’s also skill work left before reaching his considerable potential.
