Harris Boyd – 2023 QB – Rowlett, TX (Rowlett HS) – 6’3″/185:
I came across Boyd’s film last night and was really intrigued with what I saw. As a Sophomore at Plano East last year he rotated in with the Senior starter and was productive when he got his chances. After the year was over he transferred to Rowlett HS where he has already been named the starter for this season. For someone with not a lot of starter experience at the varsity level, on film he looks cool, calm and collected rather it’s in the pocket or while creating plays with his feet. Like the size he brings already at 6’3″/185 with two years to continue to grow. His release is lightning fast as he doesn’t bring the ball down or extend it much if at all outside of his frame. He displays easy arm talent and throws a nice, accurate ball. Like the versatility he shows having played from under center and in the shotgun at Plano East. Arm strength wise he shows the ability to effortlessly flick the ball 50 yards, has solid velocity on intermediate throws and can drive the ball down field. He’s not a guy that’s going to beat you with his legs but shows he can escape the pocket when needed or make a defender miss to move the chains. Outside of the pocket, rolling to his left he flashes loose hips as he is able to smoothly open up and square his shoulders to make an accurate throw on the run. Touch throws are something you see often on his film. If his spring clips that show a QB attacking where blitzes are coming from along with going through his reads is any indication of what’s to come, he could have a big year in his first as a starter. Moving forward he’s definitely one to keep your eye on.

Kevin Allen – 2023 DT – Everman, TX (Everman HS) – 6’2″/270:
As a sophomore Allen flashed the ability to win with his explosiveness off the ball showing a quick 1st step at times, his power driving OL into the backfield resetting the LOS or with his brute strength. When he gets the chance to open it up though you see the closing speed he brings. Technique wise he is still raw as you see him fire off the ball high at times and doesn’t use his hands consistently which made it difficult for him at times to shed blocks. He is still young though so that’s not a surprise. Its those flashes you see though that make him so intriguing and looking at the tweet below of his first scrimmage this year, he looks even more explosive. Earlier this year he also showed up at a Prep Redzone 2023 Showcase where he ran a 4.82 40. With improved technique mixed with his explosiveness and the numbers he’s throwing around in the weight room already, don’t be surprised if you hear his name more on the recruiting scene as this season gets going.

Nick Hawthorne – 2023 ATH – Fort Worth, TX (Boswell HS) – 6’2″/180:
Obviously his size and length immediately jump out at you on his film but as you continue to watch you see a DB that flashes twitchy, smooth movement when changing directions and flipping his hips. A lot of times when you come across a taller/longer DB prospect they lack the twitch and fluid movement but that’s not the case with Hawthorne. Mix that with the long speed and ability to drive on the football he displays and you are talking about a DB that fits the mold of what college coaches are looking for in this day and age, especially at CB. Mix in his physicality and closing speed he shows coming down hill vs the run which makes him even more intriguing. Rather it’s at Cornerback or at Safety, this is a young man I fully expect could see his recruitment take off really soon.
