Her,e we will break down some of Northern Californias unknown players that should breakout in the next few months. Part I of this II part series can be found here.
OLB Will Kanavalov, Liberty-Bakersfield HS
The 2022 prospect has good size for the position and is fluid and athletic enough to play outside linebacker at the next level. He is a downhill player that transitions quickly and takes good angles to ball carriers in space, while able to turn and run with smaller backs and slot receivers while flashing good cover abilities. A very instinctual player that loves contact and plays with a relentless motor, he should start to see college interest come his way sooner rather than later.
ATH Samaje Featherstone, Novato HS 2022
Featherstone is one of the most explosive and versatile players in the entire region and can play multiple positions at the next level. Able to line up both at receiver and running back, he is an explosive athlete with the ball in his hands that has a strong initial burst, good vision in traffic and third level speed in the open field. Also showing good short area quickness with the ability to make defenders miss in tight windows, he can also go up and win 50/50 balls consistently and displays strong hands in traffic with the ability to vertically stretch the field.
WR Nic Viau, Clovis HS 2022
Viau is one of the best receivers across the entire central valley and is poised for a huge senior season. He is a long strider that eats up ground quickly and is effective in the return game due to his open field vision and one-cut burst. He shows the ability to run both vertical and outbreaking routes while sinking his hips and getting out of his breaks quickly along with being able to snatch the ball out of the air from various different body angles and when closely defended. After the catch, he shows good contact balance and flashes some wiggle when breaking tackles in the open field.
