2025 Week 1 Offensive Top Performers

As we approach the end of August, the first week of the 2025 high school football season in the state of Kentucky has already come and gone. Week 1 was filled with several exciting matchups with very impressive individual performances. With that being said, I wanted to focus on some performances that stood out above the rest from the opening week, starting with the offensive side of the ball.    Landon Robbins introduced himself in a big way in Pineville's impressive win over Phelps, running the ball 15 times for 433 yards and five touchdowns. Robbins has explosive speed which he uses to hit the running lane with a sense of urgency then run away from the defense on long runs. He also showed impressive contact balance, showing the ability to bounce off defenders to break tackles without losing by stride. Robbins also returned one kickoff for a touchdown and made an impact on defense, finishing the game with four tackles and two tackles for loss. Landon will definitely be a player to keep a close eye on the rest of the season.     Colin Hatfield is another running back who jumped onto my radar during Week 1. He played a key role in Prestonsburg's win over Betsy Layne, running the ball 23 times for 229 yards and five touchdowns. Hatfield is a strong downhill runner, showing the ability to lower his shoulder and drive his legs through contact to break tackles with ease. Once he hits the open field, he has also shown the burst of speed to break away from the defense on long runs. Hatfield should be a player for college coaches to keep a close eye on over the next two seasons.     [player_tooltip player_id='1697795' first='Stone' last='Crowe'] impressed in his first game as the starting quarterback for Paducah Tilghman, leading his team to a dominant win over McCracken County. Crowe completed 25/39 passes for 432 yards, seven touchdowns, and two interceptions. He displayed impressive accuracy, showing the ability to hit receivers out of their breaks where they can make catches in stride. Crowe also showed the arm strength to stretch the field in the deep passing game. Stone currently holds an offer from Greenville and I expect more to come his way this season.     [player_tooltip player_id='1200633' first='Kadin' last='Hanshaw'] has been high on my radar for a while now and is off to a great start to his junior year. He helped lead his team to a win over Edmonson County, running the ball 16 times for 156 yards and five touchdowns. Hanshaw has the speed to burst through the running lane in a hurry and is very tough to tackle once he hits the open field. He has the strength to run straight through defenders and elusiveness to make them miss. Kadin also made an impact on defense on Friday, finishing the game with six tackles and one tackle for loss. Hanshaw doesn't currently hold any offers but I expect college coaches to be paying close attention to him this season.     [player_tooltip player_id='1855791' first='Brady' last='Cummins'] caught my attention with a very impressive performance last week. He played a huge role in East Jessamine's win over Bullitt Central, catching nine passes for 133 yards and three touchdowns. Cummins was electric in the open field after the catch, showing the ability to use his speed and elusiveness to turn short passes/screens into big gains. He also showed the ability to blow by opposing defensive backs with ease in the deep passing game. Cummins also finished Friday's game with seven tackles and one tackle for loss. Brady doesn't currently hold any offers but I wouldn't be surprised to see some come his way soon as he has received some college interest.     Despite his team's close loss to Powell County, Raihan Steed put together a very impressive Week 1 performance. Steed ran the ball 20 times for 279 yards and three touchdowns. He showed impressive vision, showing the ability to find cut back lanes then use his quickness to make moves in the open field to make defenders miss. Raihan also showed the speed to break away for long runs at any given moment. Steed also finished Friday's game with four tackles. Raihan currently holds any offers offer from Franklin College and I can see more coming his way during his senior year.     [player_tooltip player_id='971534' first='Gerian' last='Traynor'] is another senior running back who stood out in Week 1. He helped lead his team to a dominant victory over Central, running the ball 12 times for 168 yards and three touchdowns. Traynor was able to use his impressive speed to explode through the running lanes then run away from the defense on long runs. He also showed the elusiveness and contact balance to break tackles with ease in the open field. Gerian also caught a 34-yard touchdown pass in Friday's win.     [player_tooltip player_id='378831' first='Kade' last='Goodin'] has been high on my radar since his freshman year and is off to a great start to his junior season. He led Collins to an impressive win over Lafayette, completing 17/26 passes for 255 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception. Goodin showed off his impressive arm strength, showing the ability to lead his receivers down the field with ease in the deep passing game. He also showed the ability to escape pressure with ease while keeping his eyes down the field to make throws on the run. Goodin also showcased his dual-threat ability, using his speed to tuck the ball and pick up big gains on the ground. He finished the game with 11 carries for 95 yards and two touchdowns. Goodin currently holds offers from Bowling Green State, Marshall, Southern Mississippi, and Eastern Kentucky, and I expect more to come his way over the next couple seasons.     [player_tooltip player_id='1200729' first='Deakon' last='Partin'] is another junior quarterback who stood out in Week 1. He led his team to a win over Breathitt County on Saturday, completing 19/26 passes for 238 yards and four touchdowns. Partin threw very impressive deep balls on Saturday, showing the arm strength to stretch the field and touch to put the ball where only his intended receiver had a chance to catch it. He also showed impressive poise under pressure, showing the ability to complete passes down the field while taking on contact. Partin also scored three rushing touchdowns, tying a school single-game record with seven total touchdowns. Deakon has received a good amount of college interest and I expect coaches to continue to watch him closely over the next couple seasons.     My final offensive top performer from Week 1 in the state of Kentucky is Foxx Coons. Coons led his team to a very impressive win over Fairdale, completing 16/19 passes for 327 yards and five touchdowns. Foxx was able to use his strong arm to stretch the field with ease in the deep passing game. He also showed impressive accuracy, getting the ball out of his hands quickly to hit his receivers out of their breaks so that they could make catches in stride. Coons doesn't currently hold any offers but I wouldn't be surprised to see some come his way during his junior year as he has received some college interest.
